Proxy warfare and nuclear disarmament are considered crucial problems in the
international community due to their significant threats to global peace, security,
and stability. proxy war, a military conflict in which one or more third parties
directly or indirectly support one or more states in an effort to influence the
conflict’s outcome and to advance their own strategic interests or to weaken those
of their opponents. Proxy wars have a long history in world affairs. Nations and
empires have used them as both military and foreign policy strategies to influence
or even subdue neighbouring states. This not only extends the duration of wars but
also creates humanitarian crisis and weakened international peace efforts.
Meanwhile, nuclear disarmament remains a global concern. It is a threat to global
security and despite existing treaties many states continue to advance their
arsenals. Nuclear disarmament means not just destroying nuclear bombs, but also
using strict, constant checks to ensure that no one secretly builds more weapons or
keeps their delivery systems like rockets, submarines, and missile silos hidden.

The DR of Congo is a nuclear weapon Free State the Republic of Congo is a nuclear-
weapon-free state because it is a party to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear
Weapons (TPNW) and the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (Treaty of
Pelindaba). These treaties, which Congo has signed and ratified, legally ban the use,
development, possession, and transfer of nuclear weapons, Iran has signed and
ratified the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which prohibits the development
of nuclear weapons but allows peaceful nuclear technology under international
monitoring. In contrast, Israel has not signed the NPT and is therefore not legally
bound by its restrictions, while still believed to possess nuclear weapons. This
imbalance creates regional tension, undermines world peace, and places additional
stress on states that have committed to the treaty. Any escalation of the nuclear
conflict in the Middle East would destabilize global peace an economies indirectly
harming African nations like the DRC which rely on stability for development.

DR Congo wants to solve the problem of proxy wars and nuclear weapons in the
Middle East by convincing the countries into peace talks, regional cooperation, and
strict disarmament treaties under the United Nations. Big powers should stop giving
weapons to groups in the region. Moreover, the Democratic Republic of Congo will
also introduce ideas for other countries to develop without advancing nuclear
equipment, and to resolve their disputes peacefully with other nations.
