Statement of Purpose
In today’s competitive and fast-changing global economy, businesses no longer succeed by
operational efficiency alone; they succeed through clear vision, effective leadership, and well-
informed strategic decision-making. My academic background, professional experience, and
long-term career goals have consistently drawn me toward understanding how organisations
plan, adapt, and grow in dynamic environments. It is this strong interest in strategic thinking and
business leadership that motivates me to apply for the MSc Strategic Business Management
programme at The University of Law.
I completed my Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Management from Madan
Mohan College, Sylhet, under the National University of Bangladesh. My undergraduate
education provided me with a broad and structured understanding of core business disciplines,
including management principles, marketing, finance, accounting, organisational behaviour,
operations management, business statistics, and project management. These subjects helped me
understand how organisations function at different levels and how decisions taken at the strategic
level influence overall performance. During my undergraduate studies, I became particularly
interested in subjects such as organisational behaviour, marketing management, financial
management, and project management. These courses encouraged me to think beyond routine
business operations and consider how leadership styles, strategic planning, and resource
allocation shape long-term success. I also developed strong analytical and presentation skills
through coursework, group assignments, and case-based learning, which strengthened my
confidence in problem-solving and decision-making.
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I chose to gain practical exposure before pursuing
postgraduate education. Since April 2023, I have been working as a Business Development
Officer at Huddle Byte, a marketing consultancy firm. This professional experience has played a
crucial role in shaping my understanding of strategic business management in real-world
contexts. My responsibilities include identifying business opportunities, conducting market
research, preparing proposals, maintaining client relationships, and contributing to growth-
oriented strategies. Working in a consultancy environment has exposed me to the challenges
businesses face in highly competitive markets. I have seen how strategic decisions—such as
market positioning, pricing strategies, branding, and customer engagement—directly impact
organisational growth. I have also observed how poor strategic planning can limit even well-
resourced businesses. These experiences have made me realise the importance of structured
strategic frameworks, leadership capabilities, and data-driven decision-making, all of which I
aim to develop further through postgraduate study.
Alongside my professional responsibilities, I focused on preparing myself for international
academic study by improving my English language proficiency. I achieved an overall IELTS
score of 6.0, with no band less than 5.5. This preparation has strengthened my academic
communication skills and ensured my readiness to engage with postgraduate-level coursework,
discussions, and assessments in the UK.
My decision to pursue an MSc in Strategic Business Management is driven by a clear desire to
deepen my understanding of how organisations formulate and implement effective strategies in
complex business environments. While my undergraduate studies and professional experience
have provided me with a solid foundation, I recognise the need for advanced academic training
to move into leadership and managerial roles. This programme aligns perfectly with my
aspiration to become a strategic thinker who can contribute to organisational growth, innovation,
and sustainability.
The University of Law stands out as my preferred institution because of its strong emphasis on
practical, career-focused education. Its reputation for delivering industry-relevant business
programmes and producing highly employable graduates strongly aligns with my professional
goals. The MSc Strategic Business Management programme particularly appeals to me due to its
focus on real-world business challenges, strategic leadership, and applied learning. I am
especially interested in modules that address strategic analysis, change management, business
ethics, and decision-making in complex organisational settings.
What attracts me most to this programme is its practical approach to learning. The University of
Law’s teaching methodology, which integrates case studies, simulations, and real business
scenarios, reflects how strategic decisions are made in actual organisational environments. This
approach will allow me to connect theory with practice and prepare me effectively for
managerial responsibilities. Additionally, learning from experienced academics with industry
backgrounds will provide valuable insights into contemporary business challenges.
The UK is globally recognised for its high academic standards and strong links between
education and industry. Studying in the UK will expose me to diverse perspectives, multicultural
teamwork, and advanced business practices that are essential for developing a global mindset.
The one-year structure of UK master’s programmes is particularly attractive, as it offers
intensive, focused learning while maintaining academic depth. I believe this environment will
challenge me intellectually and help me grow both professionally and personally.
Upon completion of the MSc Strategic Business Management, my short-term goal is to progress
into strategic or managerial roles within business development, consulting, or corporate planning
functions. I aim to apply the strategic knowledge and leadership skills gained from this
programme to support organisational growth, improve decision-making processes, and enhance
operational efficiency. In the long term, I plan to return to Bangladesh and contribute to the
country’s evolving business landscape, particularly in consultancy, corporate management, or
entrepreneurial ventures.
Bangladesh is experiencing rapid economic growth, with increasing opportunities in service
industries, digital businesses, and international trade. However, many organisations still lack
structured strategic planning and professional management practices. With an advanced degree
from The University of Law and practical experience, I aspire to play a meaningful role in
addressing these gaps by introducing strategic thinking, ethical leadership, and sustainable
business practices.
In conclusion, my academic background in business administration, professional experience as a
Business Development Officer, and clear career objectives have all prepared me for postgraduate
study in strategic business management. The MSc Strategic Business Management programme at
The University of Law represents the ideal next step in my academic and professional journey. I
am confident that the programme will equip me with the knowledge, skills, and strategic mindset
required to succeed in leadership roles and make a positive contribution to the business
community.
I am highly motivated, committed, and prepared to fully engage with the academic rigour and
professional development opportunities offered by The University of Law. I respectfully submit
my application and look forward to the opportunity to further my education in the UK.
