Week 4 Study of Selected Text of Holy Quran (2)

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) is revered for his noble attributes and character,
which serve as a timeless example for humanity. The attributes of the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(S.A.W.W.) can be explored in greater detail, reflecting the profound beauty of his character and
teachings:

1. Truthfulness (Siddiq): The Prophet was known for his unwavering honesty. Even before
proclaiming his prophethood, he was universally recognized as Al-Sadiq (The Truthful)
by his people. This characteristic was essential in establishing trust with his followers and
enemies alike.
2. Trustworthiness (Ameen): His reliability earned him the title Al-Ameen (The
Trustworthy). People entrusted him with their valuables and important matters, knowing
he would never betray their confidence.
3. Compassion and Mercy: The Quran refers to him as a "Mercy to the worlds" (21:107).
He showed immense compassion towards orphans, widows, slaves, and even animals.
For instance, he would stop and console a child in tears or tend to the needs of the poor
personally. He demonstrated mercy even in warfare, emphasizing the protection of
innocents and non-combatants.
4. Humility: Despite his role as the final Prophet, he lived a simple and humble life. He
mended his own clothes, milked his goats, and participated in household chores. His
humility was also evident in how he treated others—never placing himself above them.
5. Patience and Forgiveness: The Prophet faced numerous trials, including personal loss,
persecution, and betrayal. Yet, he displayed remarkable patience. One well-known
example is his treatment of the people of Ta’if, who rejected his message and treated him
harshly. Instead of seeking vengeance, he prayed for their guidance.
6. Generosity: The Prophet’s generosity was unparalleled. He would give to anyone in
need, often leaving himself with nothing. It is reported that he never turned away a
person who asked for help.
7. Justice: He was a champion of justice, always ensuring fairness and equity. Whether it
was a wealthy noble or a poor laborer, he treated everyone with the same level of respect
and impartiality. He often reminded his followers to uphold justice even if it was against
their own interests or loved ones.
 8. Kindness and Gentleness: His kind demeanour and gentle approach won over even the
hardest of hearts. A famous story highlights his kindness: a Bedouin man once pulled the
Prophet’s cloak roughly, but instead of retaliating, the Prophet smiled and addressed him
gently.
9. Leadership: The Prophet led with wisdom and empathy. He consulted his companions in
decision-making and valued their opinions, fostering a sense of unity and collective
responsibility.
10. Spiritual Devotion: His connection with Allah was profound. He spent hours in prayer,
especially at night, seeking forgiveness for his followers and expressing gratitude. His
dedication to worship served as an example of the deep spiritual connection one can
aspire to have with the Creator.

These attributes not only shaped the lives of those around him but continue to inspire millions of
people worldwide. His life remains an ideal model for personal conduct, leadership, and service
to humanity.

 Surah Al-Ahzab (Verse 6, 21, 40, 56-59)

Surah Al-Ahzab contains several significant verses that highlight key aspects of Islamic
teachings. Here's a brief summary of the verses:

1. Verse 6 - This verse emphasizes the relationship between the Prophet Muhammad
(S.A.W.W.) and the believers, declaring him closer to them than their own selves. It also
discusses the rights and responsibilities of spouses and family members in Islam.
2. Verse 21 - It presents the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) as the perfect model of conduct for
all believers, encouraging them to follow his example in their daily lives, especially
during times of trial.

3. Verse 40 - This verse states that Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) is the Seal of the
Prophets, marking the end of the prophethood. It reinforces his special status and the
completion of Allah's message through him.
4. Verses 56-59 - These verses stress the importance of sending blessings and salutations
(Salawat) upon the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.). They also include guidelines for
modesty and the protection of women, encouraging them to dress in a way that ensures
their safety and dignity.
 Surah Al-Fatah (Verse-29)

Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those with him are firm
with the disbelievers and compassionate with one another. You see
them bowing and prostrating ˹in prayer˺, seeking Allah’s bounty and
pleasure. The sign ˹of brightness can be seen˺ on their faces from the
trace of prostrating ˹in prayer˺. This is their description in the
Torah. And their parable in the Gospel is that of a seed that sprouts
its ˹tiny˺ branches, making it strong. Then it becomes thick, standing
firmly on its stem, to the delight of the planters—in this way Allah
makes the believers a source of dismay for the disbelievers. To those
of them who believe and do good, Allah has promised forgiveness
and a great reward.

 Surah Al-Fath (The Victory), Verse 29, beautifully describes the attributes of the
followers of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) and their profound relationship with
him, while also highlighting their noble character. Here is a brief explanation:
 The verse highlights how the believers are described as compassionate and loving among
themselves but firm and resolute against disbelievers. It praises their dedication to
worship and seeking Allah’s pleasure, depicting them in acts of prayer, bowing, and
prostration.
 Furthermore, the verse uses the metaphor of a plant that starts as a tender shoot and
gradually strengthens, becoming robust and upright, symbolizing the growth and
 flourishing of the Muslim community under the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad
(S.A.W.W.). This image reflects their resilience and unity, which impresses onlookers.
 The verse concludes with Allah’s promise of forgiveness and a great reward for the
believers who embody these qualities.
