Overall Impression:
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) refers to the process through which individuals acquire and
apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and
achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships,
and make responsible decisions. SEL is increasingly recognized as a critical component of education, as
it not only enhances academic success but also fosters positive mental health, social competence, and
overall well-being among students.
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) are fundamental principles that promote equal
opportunities, rights, and participation for all individuals, regardless of gender, socioeconomic status,

dependent on you.

Validate reader’s thoughts. Even when we read the same text,
we get different ideas from them and these must be validated.
Model patience, to show learners that consistent practice is
more important than getting it right all the time.
Overall Impression:
Comprehension refers to the ability to understand written words. It is different from the ability to recognize
words. Recognizing words on a page but not knowing what they mean does not fulfill the purpose or goal of
reading, which is comprehension. Imagine, for example, that a teacher gives a child a passage to read. The child
can read the entire passage, but he or she knows nothing when asked to explain what was read. Comprehension
adds meaning to what is read. Reading comprehension occurs when words on a page are not just mere words but
thoughts and ideas. Comprehension makes reading enjoyable, fun, and informative. It is needed to succeed in
school, work, and life in general.
