34 (a) A man standing on the deck of a ship, which is 10 m above water level,
observes the angle of elevation of the top of a hill as 60° and angle of
depression on the base of the hill as 30°. Find the distance of the hill from
the ship and height of the hill. (Take √3 = 1.73)

(b) From a point P on the ground, the angle of elevation of the top of a 15 m tall
building is 30°. A flag is hoisted at the top of the building and the angle of
elevation of the top of the flagstaff from P is 45°. Find the length of flagstaff

36 Sanjana’s mother bought a new bookshelf. She wants to arrange
the books such that 3 books in the 1 st rack, 5 books in the 2 nd rack, 7
books in the 3rd rack and so on.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
(i) How many books are there in the 7th rack?
(ii) What is the difference between the number of books in the 5th and 1st
racks?

she kept.

37 For the Math week celebrations in a school, badges were given to teachers and
students. Math teachers took the art teacher help to make the badges. Art
