Motherboard This contains some of the most important parts of the computer.
CPU/Processor The brain of the computer; it processes information and carries out
commands
Heat Sink This draws heat away from the CPU
Cooling Fan (processor) ((not on tutorial)) Another thing that is used to fan out any excess
heat in order to keep the computer from overheating
Processor Speed
Case Fan (computer) What holds and stores all the important stuff for, usually, a desktop
RAM Holds the short term memory that the computer uses whenever it's performing
calculations. You can't store files here because it is short-term memory and it gets deleted once
the computer is shut off.
Hard Drive Provides long-term memory, keeping all of the computers data even when it's
turned off.
Power Supply Unit/PSU Designed to take power from the wall outlet and send it to all the
different components that need power
Expansion Cards (general definition) These allow you to upgrade by adding expansion
cards.
Video/Graphics Card Gives better on-screen graphics
Sound Card Is responsible for what you hear in the/your speakers or headphones
Network Card (NIC) allows the computer to communicate over a network and access the
internet
Ethernet Cable Wi-Fi (basically :) )
Bluetooth card/Adapter Often used to communicate with wireless keyboards, mice and
printers.
