Introduction
Digital technologies are transforming industries by enhancing efficiency, accuracy,
and customer experience. International Car Parks (ICP) depends on old systems
that pose difficulties in handling payments, data, and contracts throughout its
worldwide operations. In this report I will examine how digital technologies can aid in
organisational change at ICP, evaluates their effects on strategy and leadership
decisions, and presents a plan for implementing a modern, standardised approach.

Investigate how digital technologies can support

organisational change.
Evolution of current digital systems and technologies:
Digital technology has evolved from basic computers to laptops, smartphones,
tablets, and cloud systems. These advancements enable quicker communication,
improved data storage, and more efficient processes. SMART products like phones,
watches, and cars, along with virtual reality, are reshaping customer expectations
and how businesses operate. For ICP, their existing systems, such as cash/card
payments and manual record-keeping, are no longer up to date. Transitioning to
gmobile applications, cloud-based payments, and IoT parking sensors would help
modernize their operations.
Technology has always influenced human society, starting from basic tools like the
wheel and fire to sophisticated systems like computers and the internet. Each phase
of technological advancement from the agricultural and industrial revolutions to the
digital and mobile revolutions has changed the way people live and work. Now, with
the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), we are
entering a new era that links devices, automates tasks, and fosters innovation in
various fields. This continuous change keeps reshaping communication, production,
and daily life around the globe.
It's really important because it helps businesses stay important in a market that
keeps changing. By accepting it, companies can make their work easier, improve
how they do things, make customer experiences better, and encourage new ideas.
Nowadays, customers want easy online experiences, so it's essential for businesses
to change and stay in front of their rivals.
Industries using digital technologies:
Healthcare: Telemedicine, AI for diagnosis
Digital tools such as telemedicine and AI assist doctors in diagnosing and treating
patients from a distance with greater accuracy. They enhance access to healthcare
and lessen the need for hospital visits, but they may face challenges like privacy
concerns and reduced human interaction. ICP can take lessons from how healthcare
uses remote systems by applying digital monitoring to oversee car park operations
from any location.

Banking/finance : Online and mobile blockchain

Banks are using mobile apps and blockchain technology to speed up payments,
making them safer and easier for users. The benefits are that you can access them
anytime and they have great security, but the downsides are the risks of cybercrime

1
and the expensive setup costs. ICP could implement similar secure payment
systems to allow customers to pay for parking in a digital and safe way.
Retail: e-commerce platforms, customer analytics, personalisation
Retail stores use websites and data analysis to sell things online and customize
deals for shoppers. This boosts sales and makes customers happier, but it also
brings up worries about data privacy and security. ICP could use this method by
looking at how customers park to give discounts or loyalty rewards.
Transport: Digital ticketing, journey apps, IoT-enabled vehicles
Transport services utilize digital tickets, mobile applications, and IoT sensors to
simplify and enhance travel experiences. These technologies help save time and
minimize mistakes, but they rely on reliable internet connections and data protection.
ICP, being a part of the transport industry, could upgrade by implementing mobile
ticketing and IoT sensors for intelligent parking areas.
Emerging digital technologies:
Robotics - Robotics takes over repetitive jobs to make things faster, more accurate,
and cut down on labour costs. It boosts productivity, but setting it up can be pricey
and might take away some jobs from people. ICP could use robots for jobs like
cleaning or maintaining car parks, which would make things more efficient and safer.
Artificial intelligence (AL) & Machine Learning (ML) - AI examines huge sets of
data to provide intelligent forecasts and streamline decision-making. It enables
companies to function more quickly and precisely, but it can also lead to concerns
about data privacy and bias. ICP might utilize AI to anticipate peak parking hours and
automatically oversee space availability.
Cybersecurity - Cybersecurity safeguards digital systems and customer information
from hackers and theft. It can build trust and helps avoid financial losses, but it
needs regular updates and investment. For ICP, robust cybersecurity guarantees
that digital payments and customer data stay protected.
Internet Of Things (IoT) - The Internet of Things (IoT) links devices via the internet,
which lets them share and control data instantly. It helps with monitoring and makes
things more efficient, but it relies on dependable networks and security measures.
ICP might use IoT sensors to display available spaces in real-time and direct drivers
to free parking spots.
Blockchain - Blockchain keeps track of transactions and data safely with a shared
digital ledger. It makes things clearer and helps prevent fraud, but it requires a lot of
computing power and energy. ICP might use blockchain for safe payment tracking
and to verify customers.
Bitcoin - Bitcoin is a type of digital money that lets you make quick and safe
payments without needing regular banks. It has lower fees and can be used all over
the world, but it can change in value a lot and isn't as regulated. ICP might think
about accepting Bitcoin to draw in customers who are into technology and to provide
more flexible ways to pay.
2
Virtual Reality (VR) & Augmented Reality (AR) - Virtual Reality (VR) and
Augmented Reality (AR) make digital experiences super engaging and interactive for
people. They improve training and how customers feel about services, but they can
be expensive and require powerful devices. ICP might use AR to help with
navigation, allowing drivers to view open parking spots using a mobile app.
Edge Computing - Edge computing handles data right where it’s made, which cuts
down on delays and saves on network usage. It makes things faster and more
dependable, but it requires better infrastructure and security measures. ICP could
take advantage of edge computing to quickly refresh parking availability without
waiting on cloud delays.
Purpose:
Digital technologies have a lot of uses that help change how organizations work by
making their operations, communication, and connections with people better. They
improve social connections and global communication, letting teams and customers
talk instantly all over the world using tools like video calls and messaging apps.
These technologies help companies reach more customers, allowing for remote and
flexible work both locally and internationally, which makes employees happier and
more productive.
With cloud storage and data-sharing systems, organizations can safely store,
access, and analyse information from anywhere, which cuts costs and makes things
run more smoothly. Digital tools also help in advertising products and services,
boosting sales through online marketing and social media interaction. They assist
businesses in achieving their goals by automating tasks, simplifying operations, and
providing technical help and quick customer service through chatbots or apps. Plus,
features like GPS and mapping make navigation and logistics better.
For ICP, these uses are really important using digital systems for communication,
remote monitoring, online payments, and GPS-guided parking could modernise their
operations, improve customer experience, and keep the business in line with the
bigger digital changes happening in the transport industry.
Rationale for change management:
Digital transformation leads to big changes in organisations by bringing in new
technologies that change how businesses work and compete. It can be a bit
disruptive because it replaces old systems with smarter, automated, and data-driven
solutions, making companies adapt quickly to stay relevant.
These changes can challenge current roles and processes, but they also create
chances for innovation and growth. The real value of digital transformation is in how
it can boost performance by making things more efficient, cutting costs, and allowing
quicker decision-making through real-time data analysis.
It helps organizations grab new opportunities, like entering digital markets or offering
online services, while also tackling important issues like customer satisfaction,
sustainability, and security. By improving customer experience with personalized,

3
convenient, and instant digital interactions, businesses can build loyalty and enhance
their brand reputation.
For ICP, digital transformation would help the company update its parking systems,
introduce cashless payments, and use smart sensors to improve efficiency, reduce
congestion, and provide customers with a smoother, more connected parking
experience.
Types of organisational change:
In a business setting, change can occur in various ways. Large-scale changes, like
radical transformations, can completely alter how a company functions. On the other
hand, small-scale changes are more gradual and focus on improving current
systems step by step.
Change can be planned, meaning the organization carefully prepares and manages
the process, or it can be emergent, happening naturally in response to new
situations. It can also be started by leaders or forced upon the company due to
outside factors like new technology or shifts in the market.
Internally, businesses might go through structural changes, which involve
reorganizing departments, strategic changes that adapt long-term goals, people
changes that introduce new skills or roles, or process changes that update workflows
or technology. These changes can impact individuals, teams, or the whole
organization, making effective communication and support essential.
For ICP, it’s crucial to understand these types of changes. For example, adopting
digital parking systems would require both process and structural changes, training
staff to use new tools, and helping both employees and customers adjust smoothly
to the new digital environment.
Change management models:
Change management models give structured ways for organizations to plan, carry
out, and keep changes going. Kotter’s 8-Step Model is all about making people feel
the need for change, creating a vision, and empowering workers to lead the
transformation it’s straightforward and inspiring, but it can take a lot of time.
The McKinsey 7-S Model looks at seven important parts (strategy, structure,
systems, shared values, skills, style, and staff) to make sure everything lines up
during change, although it can be tricky to use.
The ADKAR Model is about how individuals react to change through Awareness,
Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement, which makes it useful for keeping
employees engaged, but it might miss some bigger organizational issues. The
Kubler-Ross Change Curve shows the emotional path people take (shock, denial,
acceptance, growth), which helps leaders deal with resistance but doesn’t provide
much help on how to implement changes.
Lewin’s Change Model has three steps Unfreeze, Change, Refreeze to get ready,
take action, and stabilize change; it’s easy and works well for smaller changes but
isn’t the best for ongoing digital changes.
4
For ICP, using a combination of these models would be helpful for instance, Kotter’s
method could motivate staff to embrace digital parking systems, while ADKAR could
make sure employees learn and feel confident using new technologies effectively.

Explain what is meant by digital technologies, in

relation to different industries.
The constantly changing business world has started a new time of efficiency and
creativity because of digital technologies; this trend goes beyond just using new
tech. It represents a major change in how companies operate, connect with
customers, and adapt to a changing market. Digital technology affects different
industries in various ways, like in the pharmaceutical field. With digital technology,
new solutions like document management have come up, making sure that all rules
are followed without fail. These systems also help with tracking and getting ready for
audits, allowing organizations to react quickly to regulatory checks and lower the
risks related to compliance.
Moreover, digital technology has greatly influenced the insurance sector; it has had
to manage a lot of paperwork, but customer experiences have improved a lot, and
paperwork has been cut down thanks to efficient claims processing systems. The
digitization of insurance tasks has made document verification more accurate and
faster; plus, using AI-driven analytics boosts operational efficiency, offers
personalized service to customers, and helps insurers better evaluate risks.
Finally, digital technologies have significantly affected the healthcare sector. These
advancements have enabled medical staff to communicate more quickly and
effectively, raising the quality of patient care to a higher level. Access to healthcare
services has improved due to telemedicine platforms and AI-powered diagnostics,
especially in underserved or remote areas. Important documents have also been
approved faster, which is crucial for both patients and doctors. Additionally, EHRs
offer a structured and secure way to handle patient information, ensuring continuity
of care and reducing errors.
Analyse the relationship between current and emerging
technologies, their purposes and how these are being used in a
specific industry context.
The parking industry is changing a lot with new technology. They're using both
current and new tech to make things work better and be more eco-friendly. For
example, there are automated payment systems that let you pay without cash, like
using your phone, which helps cut down on waiting times and makes it easier for
users. Also, car parks are using CCTV cameras to keep things safe by stopping
unauthorized cars from getting in. Not just regular cameras, but even smart AI
cameras that can recognize cars, making it easier for them to enter and leave
without needing a person or paper tickets. In recent years, new technologies have
started to show up in parking lots, like AI that helps predict where cars will park,
manage space better, and keep traffic moving smoothly. IoT, or the Internet of
Things, is a big part of this, helping drivers find parking spots faster with smart
sensors that tell them where there’s space available.

5
Plus, some parking lots have added electric vehicle charging stations to help with
being more sustainable. In these smart parking areas, technology helps reduce
traffic and makes the experience better for users. AI is used to change prices based
on how many people need parking, and real-time apps help drivers find open spots,
which cuts down on traffic. The combination of old and new technology is making
parking more efficient, safer, and better for the environment. As technology keeps
improving, smart parking lots will change how we get around cities, becoming fully
automated, connected, and green.

Make evidence-based recommendations on the use of

emerging digital technologies for an organisation’s
strategy and operations to meet its needs, in a specific
industry context.
To stay competitive in today's transport and parking industry, International Car Parks
(ICP) needs to update its old systems and adopt digital changes. Right now, the
organization is dealing with problems because of manual record-keeping, not
enough payment choices, and missing real-time data in its worldwide operations.
The recommendations below explain how ICP can use new digital technologies to
enhance its strategy, make operations smoother, and provide a better experience for
customers.
Internet Of Things (IoT) Sensors
ICP should use parking sensors that are connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) to
find out if parking spaces are available right away and send that information to a
main system. These sensors can connect to a mobile app or a digital screen to help
drivers find open spots, which can help lessen traffic and waiting times. Cities like
London and Birmingham have shown that IoT parking systems can cut down traffic
by as much as 30% and make better use of parking spaces. This technology would
help ICP reach its goal of making customers happier and running things more
efficiently by giving a better, data-driven parking experience. Even though the initial
cost might be high, the long-term benefits in efficiency and the added convenience
for customers make it a smart investment.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) AND Machine Learning (ML)
AI and ML can help ICP look at a lot of parking and payment data, which makes it
easier to guess when it will be busy, change prices, and use resources wisely. For
instance, AI can predict demand by looking at weather or event information, which
means they can change prices like airlines and hotels do. This way of predicting
helps make more money and plan resources better. AI can also run automated
customer service tools like chatbots, which provide quick help and let staff focus on
more complicated tasks. There are risks with data privacy and the need for good
cybersecurity, but the big advantage is that ICP can become a smart, data-focused
organization that quickly adjusts to what customers and the market want.

6
Cloud Computing
Shifting ICP's systems to a cloud platform would enable worldwide data access,
enhance scalability, and boost disaster recovery. This means that managers in
various countries could check performance, change pricing, and see customer
information right away from any device. Cloud services also lessen the need for
physical servers, which cuts down maintenance expenses. IBM research shows that
using the cloud can lower IT infrastructure costs by as much as 40%. Adopting cloud
computing would help ICP achieve its operational goals by unifying systems across
all locations, improving teamwork between departments, and allowing quicker
decision-making with real-time analytics dashboards.
Mobile Application and Digital Payments
Creating a special ICP mobile app would make it easier for customers to find, book,
and pay for parking right from their phones. The app could have features like loyalty
rewards, digital receipts, and GPS navigation to help users get to their reserved
parking spot. This digital payment system cuts down on cash handling, reduces
mistakes, and makes transactions faster. Many parking companies like RingGo and
PayByPhone have noticed a big boost in customer engagement after they started
using mobile payment options. For ICP, using similar tools fits with its plan to offer a
modern, customer-friendly experience while also making operations more efficient by
automating tasks.
Cybersecurity Enhancements
As ICP moves to digital systems, having strong cybersecurity measures will be really
important to keep customer data and financial transactions safe. This might involve
using multi-factor authentication, encryption, and always monitoring the systems.
Cybersecurity is not just about technology; it's also a smart strategy because one
data breach could hurt ICP's reputation and the trust customers have in them.
Putting money into this area helps meet global data protection rules like GDPR and
makes ICP look like a secure and reliable brand.
Evaluation of impact
Using these technologies would change ICP's approach from just reacting to
problems to being ahead of the game with digital tools. IoT and AI would help make
better decisions by providing real-time information, while cloud computing and
mobile systems would make things work faster and be easier to access. Some of the
main challenges are the initial costs, training staff, and people not wanting to
change; but these issues can be handled with good change management and
programs to get employees involved. The benefits in the long run like better
efficiency, happier customers, and more money coming in are way more important
than the costs at the start.

7
Assess how the use of digital technology impacts an
organisation’s strategy and operation across a range of
sectors or organisations.
Responding to drivers of change :
Organisations must respond to both internal and external drivers of change, such as
customer demands for convenience, technological innovation and competitive
pressures. Using systems theory, ICP can view the organization as in interconnected
system where technology affects every part from staff and structure to customer
service and financial performance.
The Burke-Litwin Model offers a clear way to handle digital transformation effectively.
It shows how outside elements, such as the growth of contactless payment methods
or IoT sensors, affect leadership behavior, company culture, and employee
motivation. By using this model, ICP can make sure that digital changes are
implemented seamlessly from high-level strategic planning to everyday operations.
For instance, adding IoT sensors to track car park occupancy enhances customer
experience but also necessitates staff training, new data systems, and a change in
management approach.
Change impact assessment :
At the strategic level, digital technologies help ICP plan better by using real-time
data. AI analytics can predict busy times, which helps the company improve pricing
strategies and lessen traffic. Cloud systems also aid in long-term goals like
sustainability by reducing paper usage and enhancing energy efficiency. At the
operational level, digital tools update how ICP works every day. Mobile apps for
booking and payment help cut down waiting times and get rid of manual ticketing.
Parking sensors that use IoT give real-time updates on open spaces, making things
run smoother and keeping customers happy. ICP needs dependable digital systems
that can help its many international branches while keeping payment processing and
data safe. Tools like cloud computing, AI, and mobile platforms can fulfill these
requirements, boost productivity, and lower operational expenses.
Assessing if technology meets organisational needs:
The success of digital transformation can be seen in the benefits it brings, like better
efficiency, lower costs, quicker decision-making, and more loyal customers. For
example, a cloud-based management system would help ICP keep an eye on
operations all over the world in real time, which means they can use resources better
and solve problems faster. But, we need to think about the risks and problems.
These can be things like data leaks, tech breakdowns, or workers not wanting to use
new systems. To handle this, ICP should spend money on change management by
offering training, communication, and tech help during the transition. There are
important ethical and legal issues to think about. ICP has to follow data protection
laws like GDPR and be clear about how they collect and use customer data. Digital
payments and IoT data need to be encrypted and kept safe to build trust and prevent
any breaches.

8
Change management process:
ICP can use a straightforward change management process to successfully
implement digital technologies:
 Recognize the need for change – looking at what customers say and the
problems we face in operations.

 Do an impact analysis – figuring out how it will affect employees, customers,

and expenses.

 Plan and get approval – getting support from stakeholders and setting
budgets.

 Put into action – introducing technology step by step, with training for
employees.

 Review and assess – collecting feedback, checking how well things are
working, and making ongoing improvements.
This method makes sure that new technology is brought in carefully, causing as little
interruption to services as possible.

Critically evaluate organisational tools used to support

the implementation of digital technology to meet
organisational strategic goals.
Different companies have various strategies to figure out their needs. For instance,
they might involve key stakeholders to clearly understand their points and
requirements. This helps ensure that their strategic goals match what users expect.
A good example is that ICP needs real-time data and smooth payment processes to
satisfy consumer demands. This approach leads to setting priorities, like automating
payments and monitoring remotely. Another strategy involves companies looking at
their competitors to find the best practices, innovations, and technologies that can
give them a clear direction. If ICP wants to study other companies, they can look at
examples like Rayven and Cleverciti Systems Corp. This method helps lower the risk
of investing in untested technologies.
However, there are some challenges, like sharing information with stakeholders and
mapping out processes, which can sometimes lead to broken ideas or a lack of
understanding of the bigger picture. ICP has different contracts and operational
needs based on the countries they work with, which can cause a limited
understanding of the overall situation. Another issue could be that companies might
stick to outdated systems if traditionalists who are cautious about technology are
involved. There are various strategies that companies use to help adopt digital
technology. For example, they might prototype and test new technologies on a small
scale, allowing them to collect important data without making a big commitment. For
instance, ICP could try out IoT-based parking sensors in a few locations to see the

9
pros and cons. If ICP chooses to go with this strategy, it can help minimize the risks
linked to large-scale failures.
Organizational tools are really important for helping digital transformation reach
goals like customer engagement and innovation. For example, there are project tools
like Asana that help improve teamwork, but they can get tricky if not managed well.
On the other hand, tools like SAP and Oracle help combine business operations to
make things more efficient, but they can be quite expensive and users might not
always like them. There are also cloud computing tools like Microsoft 365 that allow
for remote teamwork, but they come with some risks. The tools I mentioned have
both benefits and challenges, like costs and security issues, and businesses need to
manage these changes carefully. If companies can use and manage these tools well,
they can boost their digital transformation success while also lowering risks.
When it comes to ICP, they can use tools to help employees talk to each other from
different places using apps like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Earlier, I mentioned data
analytics tools that provide real-time data and data visualization. These tools help
ICP make smart choices that can help the business reach its goals. Those are the
good things about using these tools, but there are also some downsides. For
example, each tool costs money, which might force ICP to cut back on funds for
other projects and future plans.

P4 Discuss the positive and negative impact of

organisational tools to support the use of digital
technologies.
Tools like project management software and collaboration platforms are really
important for helping businesses use digital technologies. They provide many
benefits that can boost productivity and efficiency. However, there can be challenges
that organizations need to address. One major advantage of these tools is that they
help increase efficiency and productivity. For example, Microsoft Teams can help
streamline workflows and improve teamwork, which reduces the need for manual
work and lets employees focus on more valuable tasks. Additionally, digital platforms
enhance communication and collaboration, allowing remote teams to work well
together, breaking down regional barriers and promoting better teamwork.
The second benefit is that these tools support data-driven decision-making. Digital
tools give real-time analytics and data that help businesses make informed choices.
This leads to better predictions, smarter resource allocation, and effective
performance tracking. Moreover, cloud-based solutions allow businesses to expand
their operations flexibly and save money by removing the need for physical
infrastructure.
On the other hand, there are some issues that can come up with these tools. A major
downside is that businesses can become overly dependent on digital technologies,
which is called technological dependency. This can lead to problems if systems fail
or have technical issues. Privacy and security are also concerns because storing
information and customer data on digital platforms can increase the risk of

10
cyberattacks and data breaches. Another challenge is that some employees may
struggle to adapt to new digital tools, which means they will need training and
support, potentially leading to lower productivity during the adjustment period.
Additionally, high costs for implementation and maintenance can be a hurdle for
small businesses that might find it hard to afford the expenses of buying and keeping
digital tools. In summary, while digital tools can enhance efficiency, collaboration,
and decision-making, they also bring along some challenges that need to be
managed.

Justify the effective planning and implementation of a

change initiative within a specific organization.
International Car Parks (ICP) is dealing with the increasing need to adjust to new
technology so it can stay competitive in the transport and parking industry.
Customers want quicker, smarter, and more convenient parking solutions, so ICP
needs to look at how new digital technologies can help with its overall plan and daily
activities. By effectively adapting to digital changes, ICP can update its systems,
boost efficiency, and provide a more connected experience for users while also
reinforcing its long-term business objectives.
From a strategic perspective, technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet
of Things (IoT), and cloud computing can change how ICP plans, runs, and
competes. AI and data analytics could help predict parking demand, which would
assist ICP in setting flexible pricing or spotting busy times to maximize revenue. This
aligns with ICP’s strategic aim of boosting profits and enhancing customer
convenience. IoT-enabled sensors can give real-time information about available
parking spots, enabling ICP to create a smooth digital parking experience and
increase customer satisfaction. Cloud systems would help the company standardize
and store data across all its international locations, supporting a global and unified
approach.
However, these technologies also bring challenges, like high installation costs,
employee resistance to change, and cybersecurity threats. Even with these
challenges, the strategic advantages such as making decisions based on data,
better forecasting, and stronger competitiveness in the market outweigh the possible
downsides if the transition is managed well.
In terms of operations, digital technologies can change how ICP works every day. By
automating payment and ticketing systems, it would cut down on the need for
handling cash manually, which would lower human mistakes and costs. IoT sensors
and connected systems could help make things run smoother by automatically
spotting when maintenance is needed or by controlling traffic in parking lots. Using
mobile apps for payments and customer support could make communication easier,
giving users quick help and updates.
Plus, digital tools for teamwork like Microsoft Teams or Slack can simplify
communication between offices around the world, making coordination and response
times better. But, ICP needs to make sure that all employees get the right training
and support during this change to avoid confusion and tech problems. By carefully

11
managing these things, ICP can have smoother operations, increased productivity,
and a better experience for customers.
To effectively deal with this change, ICP should use a well-organized change
management strategy.
Using models like Kotter’s 8-Step Model can help create a sense of urgency, develop
a vision for change, and encourage employees to back digital transformation.
The ADKAR model can also assist ICP in making sure that staff are aware,
knowledgeable, and confident during the process.
Training programs, meetings with stakeholders, and clear communication are crucial
for lowering resistance and keeping morale high.
Moreover, strong cybersecurity measures need to be in place to safeguard customer
data and maintain trust.
Regular reviews and ongoing improvement methods, like the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-
Act) cycle, can help ICP keep track of progress and make changes when necessary.

Review the factors that may affect the future

development of digital technologies in relation to a
given industry context.
For International Car Parks (ICP) to effectively bring in digital technologies, they
need to have a clear and organized plan for how to do it. The company wants to
update its operations by using smart parking systems, cashless payment options,
and digital monitoring tools. These updates are really important to fix problems like
slow payment processing, uneven customer experiences, and poor data
management at their locations around the world. By thoughtfully planning and
overseeing this change, ICP can minimize disruptions, get support from employees,
and enhance overall performance.
ICP needs to use a well-known change management process, like Lewin’s Change
Model, which has three key steps: Unfreeze, Change, and Refreeze. During the
Unfreeze step, ICP should start by recognizing the need for change and clearly
telling all employees about it. This means discussing the issues with the current
manual systems and highlighting the advantages of digital solutions, like quicker
transactions and better access for customers. In the Change stage, ICP will start to
bring in digital systems like IoT sensors to check how many parking spots are open,
cloud-based payment systems, and a mobile app for parking. They will train the staff
and do some pilot tests at chosen car parks to make sure everything works well
before they expand it to more places.
For this transformation to work well, ICP has to put money into a few important
resources. This means getting hardware like sensors, cameras, and servers;
software like a safe payment app and a data management system; and people like
IT experts, data analysts, and customer service workers. They also need money for

12
buying equipment, training workers, and keeping the systems running. Every
department should know exactly what their jobs are. For instance, the IT team
should handle the technical setup, managers should keep an eye on staff training,
and the finance team should make sure expenses don’t go over budget. Just like any
big change, there are risks that ICP needs to handle. Cybersecurity threats are a big
worry when dealing with digital payments and customer information, so it's really
important to focus on strong encryption, regular updates, and following GDPR rules.
Technical problems, like software crashes or system downtime, can also mess up
operations, so having backup systems and maintenance plans is necessary. Plus,
some employees or customers might not like the change, so clear communication,
demonstrations, and continuous support will help them accept it.
After the digital technologies are completely set up, ICP needs to keep an eye on
how well they are working. The company can track important performance indicators
(KPIs) like how fast transactions are, how happy customers are, and how often the
system is up and running to see how they are doing. Input from customers and staff
can also point out where things can get better. Frequent reviews and reports will
make sure that the digital systems keep aligning with ICP's strategic goals and can
adjust to what is needed in the future.
By using digital technology in this organized manner, ICP can reach its goal of
becoming a modern, data-focused organization. The advantages include better
efficiency, lower operational costs, quicker customer service, and a stronger
competitive edge in the transport industry. This change will enable ICP to offer a
smooth, tech-supported parking experience, enhancing its reputation and aiding
long-term growth at all its international locations.

Examine barriers to change and determine how they

influence leadership decision- making in a given
industry context.
When new digital systems are put in place, it's really important for ICP to keep an
eye on how they are doing. This helps make sure they provide the benefits we
expect and keep up with our business goals. By monitoring, the organization can see
what’s going great, where we can make things better, and how technology affects
things like customer experience, costs, and efficiency. If we don’t check regularly,
problems like system errors, cyber risks, or users not adopting the system could slip
by unnoticed, which would hurt our operations and make customers unhappy.
At ICP, the first step in monitoring is to establish clear goals for the digital systems in
use, like cutting down waiting times, enhancing payment accuracy, and boosting
customer satisfaction. These goals are assessed using data gathered from the new
parking management software, IoT sensors, and mobile payment systems.
Managers utilize dashboards and analytics tools to keep an eye on important
performance indicators (KPIs) such as system uptime, average transaction times,
and customer feedback scores. Regular reports are generated to check if these
technologies are meeting the organization’s strategic goals.

13
Feedback is a really important part of the monitoring process. ICP collects
information from both employees and customers to see how well the systems are
working in real life. Employee feedback points out any technical problems or training
needs, while customer feedback shows how the digital systems impact convenience,
reliability, and trust. This information helps ICP make small changes to enhance
performance and usability.

Security and legal compliance are always being watched over. Since ICP deals with
customer information through digital payments and IoT systems, it has to follow data
protection laws like the UK GDPR. Regular audits of the system, checks on data
encryption, and reviews of access control make sure that all personal information is
kept and handled safely. Keeping an eye on cybersecurity also helps to stop data
breaches and financial losses.
Furthermore, ICP evaluates operational performance and financial results to ensure
that digital technologies are economically viable. This assessment involves
contrasting the expenses associated with maintaining digital systems with the
savings achieved through enhanced efficiency and decreased manual labour. For
instance, by monitoring the volume of customers utilizing mobile payments, ICP can
quantify the amount of time staff conserve by not having to manage cash
transactions manually.
To enhance accuracy further, ICP might adopt automated monitoring systems that
leverage artificial intelligence to identify atypical activities, including payment
discrepancies or system outages, and promptly notify personnel. Additionally,
predictive analytics could be employed to foresee maintenance requirements prior to
the emergence of faults, thereby minimizing disruptions for customers.
In summary, the assessment of the effects of digital technologies enables ICP to stay
agile, effective, and oriented towards customer needs. Through consistent data
analysis, feedback collection, and adherence to security protocols, ICP guarantees
that its digital transformation persists in providing value and aligns with the
organization’s enduring objectives of enhancing service quality, operational
efficiency, and competitiveness within the transportation sector.

M3 Critically analyse the connection between positive

and negative factors of digital technology development
and its influence on leadership decision- making.
Effective monitoring is essential for guaranteeing that digital technologies provide
genuine value to an organization. For ICP, the implementation of contemporary
monitoring tools, including data analytics platforms, dashboards, and IoT
performance tracking systems, is crucial for sustaining efficient operations and
enhancing customer experience. These systems enable the company to access real-
time data regarding parking occupancy, payment transactions, and system reliability,
thereby assisting managers in making informed decisions based on evidence.

14
Nevertheless, despite the evident benefits these tools present, they also possess
limitations that ICP must diligently oversee.
A significant advantage of employing digital monitoring systems is their capacity to
gather and analyze data in real time. For instance, IoT sensors installed in parking
lots consistently monitor the availability of spaces, while integrated dashboards
present this information to both customers and management. This immediate
visibility enhances decision-making processes and enables ICP to swiftly address
problems such as equipment malfunctions or shortages of parking spaces.
Additionally, tools like cloud-based analytics and AI algorithms can detect trends in
parking demand, which can inform business strategies and facilitate more precise
predictions of peak periods.
An additional benefit is enhanced accountability and transparency. By digitally
recording all transactions and performance metrics, managers can readily examine
reports to verify that objectives are being achieved. Furthermore, monitoring systems
facilitate adherence to data protection and security regulations, thereby minimizing
the risks associated with data loss or misuse. The ICP can implement automated
notifications to identify irregular activities, such as payment discrepancies or cyber
threats, ensuring that security issues are promptly addressed.
On the other hand, digital monitoring tools present certain challenges. The
installation and maintenance costs can be high, particularly when they depend on
sophisticated technologies like AI or predictive analytics. Furthermore, staff need to
be adequately trained to analyze data accurately, as inadequate analysis may result
in erroneous conclusions and inefficient use of resources. Moreover, excessive
dependence on automated systems could lead employees to overlook human
insights or customer feedback, both of which are crucial for assessing the overall
quality of service.
Despite these obstacles, the success of digital monitoring is significantly influenced
by its incorporation into ICP's broader business strategy. To achieve optimal results,
monitoring should extend beyond mere performance metrics to encompass the ways
in which technology enhances customer satisfaction, boosts employee productivity,
and drives financial growth. Ongoing evaluations and iterative improvement
methodologies, such as the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle, can assist ICP in
ensuring that monitoring stays relevant and current.
To enhance its monitoring strategy, ICP might consider implementing sophisticated
tools such as business intelligence (BI) software to integrate data from various
sources, thereby providing a comprehensive overview of performance across all
parking facilities. Predictive monitoring could assist in recognizing maintenance
requirements prior to equipment failure, thereby minimizing downtime. By leveraging
both quantitative data (such as transaction speed and occupancy rates) and
qualitative data (such as customer feedback), ICP can achieve a balance between
technical efficiency and user satisfaction.
Digital monitoring tools prove to be exceptionally effective in enhancing efficiency,
ensuring accountability, and informing strategic decisions at ICP. When bolstered by

15
proficient personnel, ongoing training, and a well-defined digital policy, these
systems empower ICP to maintain its competitive edge, provide superior service,
and persist in evolving a smart, data-driven methodology for managing its
operations.
