ABSTRACT

Institutions issue certificate to those students who have successfully completed all studies
included in the scheme of their program. The certificate awarded by theses institution is of prime
importance in the student's life. Some student in most cases do not complete their programs but
still end up having results, this is actually possible as a result of the production and circulation of
fake certificates, which seems to be a cheap and common practice as paper document can be
easily forged with the availability of advance printing and copying technolagies. Hence, there is a
need to adopt a process that can verify and ensure the authenticity of the certificate being
presented by a graduate, in order to prevent the circulation fake certificate, a method is being
proposed where the integrity of the certificate can be verified with the use of QR Code and
Smart Phone Application, where the QR Code will contain the basic information about the holder,
such as the holders name, department, matriculation number, and a unique a urique identifier
which will be used to track the certificate, in a need arise for further proof, the QR will be
imprinted by the Federal Polytechnic Bida, while producing this results. In order to verify the
authenticity of this result a smart phone application will be developed to scan the QR Code
generated.
