Student Teaching Guide

1 – Research:

Author

Date of birth and death

Time period for historic events and life at that time

The year the story was written and discuss why you think it was written during that time period
(significance)

2 – go through story don’t read but underline or circle words you don’t know individually...THEN…
compile a list of similar words to define – one person before your next class must define and create the
vocabulary list in a graphic organizer…

Word...definition...part of speech

3 – NOW READ – READ ALONE THEN TOGETHER (DURING CLASS)

ANNOTATE AS YOU READ – if you have a question or comment about something you read, write it on
the paper right where you had the thought/question so you can easily refer back to it to get clarity or
make a point, vocabulary, .

Everyone read to themselves for 30 minutes then STOP…talk about vocab and what the word means
in the sentence FOR UNDERSTANDING then talk about what has happened in the story so far to check
and help each other with comprehension

4- LEADERS – please make sure you ask those who seems to not be reading questions to make them
read don’t let them slack and leech off the work of others in the group…be a leader.

5 – REPEAT the 10 min then comprehension check until class is over or you’ve finished the story

6 - Now INDIVIDUALLY go through and answer questions in the packet (refer to the story if you need to)

Use textual evidence to support your answer by quoting or giving a page and or paragraph number

7 – after all the questions have been answered, come together and share your findings and correct
anything that needs correcting
8 – create an outline that tells me who is doing the following jobs:

Leader:

Create trailer:

Create vocabulary list:

Create a slide for which part of the elements of a short story:

Create Q&A – questions and answers to check for comprehension of story from your class after you
teach:

Create your game for either the elements of the story and or vocabulary words:

DUE DATES:

OUTLINE – JANUARY 30TH – DURING BLOCK

PPT FOR YOUR STUDENT TEACHING SESSION – FEBRUARY 4TH

STUDENTING TEACHING SESSIONS – FEBRUARY 10TH AND 13TH

GOOD LUCK ;)
