PROGRAM DIRECTOR

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Program Director to join our leadership team. Reporting to
the Head of Programs, the Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination,
and execution of all program-related activities.

This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing complex programs and
ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The Program Director will play a key role in shaping and
executing the programmatic direction of the organisation, ensuring operational excellence, driving impact,
implementing and expanding community programmes both in India and Internationally.

Location: New Delhi

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Delivery and Quality Assurance

● Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize programmatic efficiency
and effectiveness, emphasizing change management initiatives
● Lead the development and execution of all program aspects, ensuring alignment with program
objectives.
● Oversee the creation, review, and adjustment of the program strategy to align with government
policies and project specifications.
● Supervise the implementation of programmatic activities, offering support to Field Teams to ensure
smooth operations.
● Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual plan & progress reports, ensuring adherence
to donor requirements.
● Engage with partners to maintain coherence in program strategy and execution.
● Provide strategic direction and foster a culture of excellence in decision-making processes.
● Create and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations and
maintain consistency across all field activities.
● Conduct regular field visits and engage with beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders.

Financial Management

● Lead the financial management of all programs including financial forecasting, budgeting and cost
management
● Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and financial policies
● Develop key financial tools (phased budgets, work plans, staff recruitment plans, monitoring
plans, etc.).
● Managing Admin costs within the sanctioned amount will be important.
● Monitor financial performance, ensuring alignment with budgets and donor guidelines.
● Maintain compliance with donor regulations, ensuring robust systems are in place for asset,
equipment, and property management.
● Finalize and submit high-quality financial and programmatic reports to the Head of Programs and
Management.
● Support the finance team with audits and evaluations.
Monitoring and Evaluation

● Lead the development and application of monitoring and evaluation tools to deliver evidence-based
and results-based programming.
● Provide technical support to the government stakeholders in program expansion as required.
● Foster an integrated approach across thematic areas (children, education, youth, women, and
community development) to enhance program design and delivery.
● Document and disseminate project learnings and case studies, incorporating them into ongoing
and future initiatives.

Programme Development and Fundraising

● Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships Team to contribute to program development and
fundraising efforts.
● Lead situation analysis and needs assessments, ensuring proposals are responsive to beneficiary
needs.
● Drive the development of concept notes and proposals for continuous program funding.
● Play an active role in donor relations and the creation of a fundraising strategy.
● Incorporate analysis and lessons learned into new strategies/activities.

Performance Management and Capacity Building

● Ensure the project is adequately staffed, with a focus on recruitment, management, and motivation
of team members.
● Create and execute a dynamic capacity building and training plan for all team members.
● Conduct training for government officials at all levels from the community to Block level for effective
implementation in the respective states.
● Foster a positive and compassionate working environment with clear roles and responsibilities,
encouraging staff development through regular feedback and performance evaluations.
● Promote diversity and inclusion within the team

Additional Responsibilities:

● Identify and execute the use of technology to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.
● Contribute to ongoing research initiatives, with a focus on child protection and education.
● Ensure compliance with organizational policies, including child safeguarding, health and safety,
and equal opportunities.
● Engage in networking and coordination with other NGOs, Civil Society Organizations, and related
entities to enhance collaboration and program effectiveness.
● Perform any other duties as assigned, consistent with the role’s level of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

● Masters degree in development studies, social work, business administration, social sciences, or
a related field.
● Minimum 15 years of experience managing development programs, with expertise in project cycle
management, proposal writing, and M&E.
● Be conversant with FCRA and CSR Regulations of Government of India.
● Proven experience in managing large-scale field programs with multiple partners in complex
environments.
● Strong skills in planning, coordination, and reporting, with the ability to manage a diverse workload.
● Excellent financial management abilities, including budgeting and financial reporting.
● In-depth knowledge of thematic issues and familiarity with major institutional donors.
● Strong understanding of child-centric development processes and policies.
● Knowledge of strategies to eliminate and eradicate child labor, child trafficking, child sexual abuse,
and all forms of child exploitation.
● Demonstrated leadership in managing multicultural teams, with strong communication skills in
English and Hindi.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and new media platforms.
