Lapu Lapu refused to swear fealty to Spain
and declined Magellan's offer to avoid attack

colonialism marked the Philippines'
environment, and Filipinos assimilated
elements.
- The Philippines experienced similar events
to Latin America, with Spanish colonization
transforming landowners into wealthy
individuals. Native Americans blended in,
while others suffered enslavement.
Catholicism was adopted, but tribes like the
Igorot resisted. Despite espite burning towns,
destroying crops, and sexually abusing
women, the Igorot people were never
conquered by the Spanish of Spanish culture.
