"Some people believe that children of all ages should have extra responsibilities

at home. Others believe that, outside of school, children should be free to enjoy
their lives.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion."

People are seriously debating the best ways for children to spend their time after
school. While some people think that children should help parents with housework;
others believe that they should have their own choice to enjoy their lives. This essay
hereby aims to elaborate on both viewpoints and shed light on why having additional
home duties is more rational.

The primary cause for most people to encourage children to freely enjoy their time
is that it gives young children rich creativity and cognitive, emotional development. As
they can do everything they want, they can explore and make out a plenty of things in
their mind, this fosters the development of their cognitive abilities and cultivates a more
vivid imagination. Additionally, sharing hobbies with friends fosters a greater
comprehension of emotions, thereby enhancing empathy and make it easier to relate to
others.

On the contrary, it is believed that being responsible for additional housework


fosters a sense of independence and contribution to family. Through helping their
parents with household chores, they will learn how to do housework, which will help
them be able to take care of themselves in their independent lives later on. Besides
that, doing household chores together with parents will help strengthen family
bonds, thereby making everyone in the family love each other more.

In my viewpoints, taking responsibilities for household chores will set our children
up for a brighter future. While freely enjoying their spare time may give them a creative
mind and great sense of emotion but it won’t equip them for living on their own. They
will be better prepared for the future as they have acquired essential life skills through
doing houseworks, which will greatly assist them in living independently.
