Interactive Simulation Lesson Probability

This lesson plan for a Class 10 mathematics session on probability introduces the concept through interactive examples such as coin tosses, dice throws, and card selections. It includes a quick classroom activity to engage students and reinforces key points about probability being between 0 and 1. Interactive Simulation Lesson Plan – Mathematics

(Class 10, Probability)

Introduction (2 min)
Teacher: "Class, suppose we play a game: I toss a coin. If Head comes, I’ll give you a chocolate, if
Tail comes—you give me one. Would you play this game?" (Students laugh, respond Yes/No).
"Great! But tell me, what are the chances of me winning? And you winning? Exactly 50-50! And
that’s what we study in Probability."

Concept (3 min)
Probability = (Favorable Outcomes) ÷ (Total Outcomes). It’s like counting how many ways you can
win divided by all possible chances.

Interactive Examples (5–6 min)

• Coin Toss (live demo): Toss a coin in front of class. Outcomes = {H, T}. Probability of Head =
1/2. Do it twice to engage students.
• Dice Throw (real dice if possible): Probability of 6 = 1/6, even number = 3/6 = 1/2, number > 4 =
2/6 = 1/3. Let a student roll the dice.
• Cards Example (deck of 52): Probability of red card = 26/52 = 1/2, probability of king = 4/52 =
1/13. Pick a card to make it fun.

Quick Classroom Activity (3 min)

Teacher: "Now let’s play a small game. I’ll choose a day randomly from the week. Guess which day
I’ll choose!" Write days on board, pick one secretly, then reveal. Ask: "What is the probability that I
chose Sunday?" (1/7).

Recap (2 min)
• Probability is always between 0 and 1.
• Probability of rolling 8 on dice = 0.
• Probability of rolling odd number = 1/2.
• Probability measures chance and is used in weather, cricket, insurance, games, etc.

Homework
Q1. From the word MATHEMATICS, find probability of getting: a) A vowel b) Letter 'T'
