PROJECT REPORT
PART TWO: LITERATURE REVIEW
Manufacturing industries produce emissions, mostly from burning fossil fuels to produce
energy for making products such as cement, iron, steel, and plastic. Mining and other
industrial processes also release gases in the form of smoke into the atmosphere. This in
turn leads to global warming, as has been experienced in recent years. Global warming
results in climate change and unpredictable weather patterns.
This has affected farming activities in parts of the world, especially in the African continent,
which has led to food shortages.
Carbon (IV) oxide produced by human activities is the highest contributor to global
warming. The concentration of carbon (IV) oxide in the atmosphere has risen to about 48%
above the pre-industrial level.
The project is meant to reduce the concentration of carbon (IV) oxide and other harmful
gases in the atmosphere in order to curb global warming. Smoke produced through human
activities and industries is passed through a smoke absorber so that it is purified before
being released into the atmosphere. The smoke is purified through electrostatic
precipitation to remove harmful gases such as CO₂ and CO. This will help in managing global
warming and climate change.
PROCEDURE: MAKING A SIMPLE MOTOR
Step 1: Make the Coil
- Wrap copper wire 15–20 turns around a pen or marker.
- Leave 3–4 cm straight on both ends.
- Slide the coil off and keep it round.
Step 2: Strip the Wire Ends
- On one wire end, scrape off all the enamel.
- On the other wire end, scrape only the top half.
Step 3: Prepare the Supports
- Bend paper clips into a U-shape.
- Tape one paper clip to the positive terminal and the other to the negative terminal of the
battery.
Step 4: Place the Magnet
- Put the magnet under the coil position.
- Center it between the paper clips.
Step 5: Mount the Coil
- Rest the wire ends in the paper clips.
- Ensure it spins freely.
- Give it a gentle push to start.
Step 6: Add the Propeller
- Attach a very light propeller to the coil.
- Keep it balanced or it will stall.
PROCEDURE: AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM
Step 1: Create the Enclosure
- Use a carton box or container to create a chamber.
- Cut openings at the bottom and top to allow airflow.
Step 2: Install the Fan (Motor and Propeller)
- Attach the propeller to the DC motor shaft.
- Mount the motor at the top of the container to pull air upward through the device.
- Connect the motor to a 9V battery via a switch to allow it to be turned on and off.
Step 3: Test the Air Circulation System
- Turn on the DC motor switch to activate the fan.
- Observe air being drawn into the system.
- Use the switch to turn the system on or off.
