Reprhasing

He’s sad. He’s not happy.

Él está triste. Él no está contento.

- Cambiar adverbios de significado opuesto:

She lives near me. She doesn’t live far away from me.
Vive cerca de mí. No vive lejos de mí.

- Cambiar un adjetivo comparativo por la estructura as (adj.) as y

viceversa:

Mary is older than Tom. Tom is not as old as Mary.

Mary es más mayor que Tom. Tom no es tan mayor como Mary.

- Present perfect vs. Past tense

They’ve lived in London for 4 years. They moved to London 4 years ago.
Llevan 4 años viviendo en Londres. Se mudaron a Londres hace 4 años.

- Some / Any / Much / Many / Few / Little / Too / Enough

There isn’t much time left. There’s few time left.

No queda mucho tiempo. Queda poco tiempo.

- Would rather / prefer

I prefer playing guitar than playing the drums. I like playing the guitar than
playing the drums.
Prefiero tocar la guitarra que la batería. Me gusta más tocar la guitarra que la
batería.

- Cambiar un modal verb por uno de significado similar:

Shall we have something to drink? Would you like something to drink?

¿Nos tomamos algo? ¿Quieres tomar algo?

- Transformar una frase activa a pasiva o viceversa:

Shakespeare wrote Hamlet. Hamlet was written by Shakespeare.

Shakespeare escribió Hamlet. Hamlet fue escrito por Shakespeare.

- Transformar una frase a condicional:

I wasn’t on time because I missed the bus. If I hadn’t missed the bus, I would
have been on time.
No llegué a tiempo porque perdí el autobús. Si no hubiera perdido el bus,
hubiera llegado a tiempo.

- Cambiar relative clauses:

There’s the woman. Her daughter is friends with mine. There’s the woman
whose daughter is friends with mine.
Ahí esta la mujer. Su hija es amiga de la mía. Ahí está la mujer cuya hija es
amiga de la mía.

- Transformar oraciones de estilo directo a indirecto (reported speech):

What are you doing this evening? She asked me what I was doing that
evening.
¿Qué haces esta tarde? Me preguntó qué hacía esa tarde.
- Cambiar linking words:

Although we were exhausted, we finished the race. In spite of being

exhausted, we finished the race.
Aunque estábamos agotados, acabamos la carrera. A pesar de estar
agotados, acabamos la carrera.
