"Project Title: "Safeguard: Women’s Safety Wearable Accessory"

Abstract:

The Women’s Safety Wearable Accessory is a compact and intelligent device designed to ensure personal safety and
immediate assistance during emergencies. The device is activated via a double-action mechanism (e.g., double press
or press-and-hold), reducing the chances of accidental activation. Once triggered, it sends an emergency alert along
with the user’s live GPS location to pre-selected contacts via SMS. Additionally, it captures and transmits real-time
video or audio as evidence of the situation. The wearable seamlessly integrates into everyday accessories such as
bangles or handbags, making it discreet, light weight and easy to use. Leveraging IoT technology, it ensures swift
communication, real-time updates, and efficient tracking. With features like secure activation, live location sharing,
and multimedia transmission, the accessory serves as a reliable and proactive safety solution, empowering women to
feel confident and secure in any environment.

Purpose of the Project:

The purpose of this project is to design a wearable device that ensures women’s safety by enabling rapid response
during emergencies.

It aims to:

Provide a reliable method of alerting trusted contacts with real-time location and multimedia evidence.

Minimize response time through smart notifications and AI-based threat analysis.

Create a discreet, portable device that is easy to integrate into daily life.

Enhance the feeling of security and confidence for women in various environments.

Objectives:

Develop a Compact Wearable Accessory: Design a discreet and portable device that is user-friendly and seamlessly
integrates into everyday accessories.

Implement a Secure Trigger Mechanism: Introduce a double-action trigger to prevent accidental activation.

Enable Real-Time Communication: Ensure the device can send location, alerts, and multimedia (video/audio) to
emergency contacts instantly.

Incorporate AI for Threat Detection: Use AI for audio/video analysis, predictive alerts, and gesture recognition to
enhance reliability.

Provide a Mobile Application: Build an app to configure contacts, monitor device activity, and enable remote alerts.

Ensure Data Privacy and Security: Use encryption to safeguard transmitted data and user information.

Wearable Device:

Represents the hardware component of the accessory, including GPS, GSM modules, and the panic button.

Handles core functionalities like sending alerts, capturing video, and location tracking.

Mobile App:

The software interface for users to configure settings, manage emergency contacts, and track device activity.

Emergency Contact:

Manages and notifies the user’s selected contacts during emergencies.

Benefits of Using SMS Instead of a Mobile App

Offline Functionality: SMS works without an internet connection, making it more reliable in areas with poor
connectivity.

Universal Accessibility: All mobile phones can receive SMS, ensuring alerts are received even if the contact does not
have a smartphone or app installed.

Simplified Architecture: Reduces dependency on an app, making the system lightweight and easier to implement.

Execution Plan:

Hardware Development

Prototype Design:

Assemble the ESP32 or Arduino Nano with the GPS and GSM modules.

Connect a tactile button to trigger alerts and integrate a microphone for optional audio recording.

Circuit Diagram:

Connect the GPS module to the microcontroller for continuous location updates.

Use the GSM module for communication (sending SMS or making calls).

Add a Li-Po battery with a charging module for compact power supply.

Testing the Hardware:

Test individual components (GPS for accuracy, GSM for connectivity).

Ensure the panic button reliably triggers emergency alerts.
