AIM:
To explain the different types of Styles and steps to create a new style from
selection in Libre Office Writer.
Styles
A style is a predefined combination of various features like font style, color, and
size that is applied to the selected text in a document to quickly change its
appearance.
When you apply a style, you actually apply a group of formatting effects
together in one simple step that makes the text effective and readable.
Style Categories
In Writer, You can apply headings, titles, text, list, and other predefined
formatting styles to the text by using the Styles Pane.
The Styles pane (a floating or dockable pane) contains different style categories
as listed below:
 Paragraph Styles are used to control all aspects of a paragraph’s
appearance, such as text alignment, tab stops, line spacing, and so on.
 Character Styles are used for a block of text inside a paragraph, for
example, they enable you to set the font and size of text, or bold and italic
formats.
 Page Styles are used for page formatting, such as page size, margins,
headers an footers, borders, backgrounds, and columns.
 Frame Styles are used to format graphic and text frames, including text
wrap, borders, backgrounds, and columns.
 List Styles are used to select, format, and position numbers or bullets in
list.
 Table Styles are used to change the appearance of data available in
tables.

PROCEDURE:
Creating a New Style from Selection
To build a custom style in Writer from selection, follow these steps:
 Open a document and format the text (such as paragraph or title) as per
your requirement.
 Open the Styles pane, and select a style category in which you want to
create a style. For example, select the Paragraph Styles category.
 Click on the New Style from Selection icon available in the Styles pane and
select New Style

Click in the Styles menu and select New Style.
 The Create Styles dialog box appears. Enter a name for the style. For
example, type Custom.
 Click on OK. A new style will be added in the Styles pane under the
selected category.

➢ Steps to insert Images

▪ Inserting an image from a file:


To insert an image from your computer, follow these steps:
 Position the cursor where you want to insert an image.
 Click on the Insert menu and then select the Image option. Or
 Click on the Insert Image icon on the Standard toolbar.
 The Insert Image dialog box appears.
 Locate the picture you wish to insert and select it.
 Click on the Open button to add it to your document.

➢ Cropping an image
To crop an unwanted area of an image, follow these steps:
 Select the image that you want to crop.
 Click on the Crop Image button on the Image toolbar.
 Eight Crop handles will appear. Drag a Side Crop or Corner Crop handle to
crop the image.
 You can drag as much as you like. Corner Crop handles will crop the image
diagonally whereas by using a Side Crop handle you can crop an image in
horizontal or vertical direction.
 Alternatively, right-click on the image and select Properties. The Image
dialog box open. Click on the Crop tab and select the required crop
settings. For example, adjust the width and height of the image scale or
image in the Scale section or in the Image Size section, respectively. You
can also change the scale of the picture. For this, select the Keep image
size option and then enter Left, Right, Top, and Bottom values as per your
requirement.

LEARNING OUTCOME – Drawing objects and grouping them in a digital
document
AIM:
Create a new document in LibreOffice Writer, draw objects and group them.
PROCEDURE:
Draw an object in LibreOffice:
 Click on the Insert tab and select the Shape option.
 A submenu appears that shows you a list of options, such as lines, basic,
arrow, symbol, star, callout, and Flowchart.
 Select the required option and further select a shape.
 The pointer changes to ‘+’ cross hair symbol. Drag it on the working area
to draw the shape.
➢ Changing fill and outline colours:
1. Select an object that you want to modify.
2. On the Drawing Object Properties toolbar:
• Click on the Area Style/ Filling drop-down arrow
and select a colour filling style such as colour, Gradient, Hatching,
Bitmap, or Pattern
• Click on the Fill Colour drop-down arrow and select
desired fill colour
• Click on the Line Colour drop-down arrow and select the
desired line colour.

➢ Changing line style and width:


1. Select the drawing object that you want to modify.
2. On the Drawing object properties toolbar
• Click on the line style drop-down arrow and select a
line style for the object.
• Set the width for line in the line width spin box .

Grouping objects
1. Draw four or five drawing objects.

2. Click on the select tool on the Drawing toolbar.


3. Drag it over the objects to select them.
4. Once, all the objects are selected, click on the Group button on
the Drawing Object Properties toolbar. Or
Right-click and select Group from context menu.
5. All the selected objects will be grouped.

LEARNING OUTCOME – Create a template and set it as a default template in a
digital document
AIM:
Create a new document in LibreOffice Writer, create a template and set it as
a default template.
PROCEDURE:
Creating a Template
A template can be created in writer by saving a document with .ott extension.
To create a template of your document, follow these steps:
• Open the document or create a new document.
• While creating a document, add the content that you want to use further.
For example, company logo, copyright statement, and so on. Also, apply
the required formatting.
• Click on the File menu and select Templates > Save as Templates.
• The Save as Templates dialog box appears. It displays the existing
categories of templates and a textbox to enter a name for the new
template.
• Select the template category under Template category.
• Enter the name for the template in the Template Name box.
• Click on the Save button. A template of your document will be saved in
the My Templates folder.
Setting up a custom default Templates:
In writer, it is possible to set up the custom templates as default templates. To
do so, follow these steps
• Open the Templates window by clicking on File>New>Templates
• Scroll through the list of templates and right-click on the templates that
you want to set as a default templates.
• Select the Set as Default options from the shortcut menu.
• Close the Writer application and reopen it.
• The new document will open with the custom default templates.

AIM:
Create a new document in LibreOffice Writer and to learn how to insert table
contents and index in Libre Office writer in big documents, books, draft, etc. and
to set hierarchy of headings.
PROCEDURE:
Creating Table of Contents in Libre Office Writer
 Libre office Writer lets you build an automated Table of Contents using
the Table of Contents and Index feature.
 It generates all the entries automatically as hyperlinks in the TOC.
 Whenever you make changes in the headings of a document, they appear
automatically in the Table of Contents when it is next updated.

Steps to create Table of Contents:


• Make sure that the headings are styled consistently. For example, use the
heading 1 style for the chapter names, if you are creating single-level TOC.
• In the document, position the cursor where you want to insert the TOC.
Usually, a Table of Contents follows the title page in a document.
• Click on the Insert menu and select the Table of Contents and Index
option.
• A submenu appears. Select the Table of Contents, Index or Bibliography
option.
• The Table of Contents, Index or Bibliography dialog box appears.
• In the Title field, type the title for the TOC. For the examples, type
Contents.
• On the right side of the dialog box, you can see the preview of the TOC.
• Click on OK to insert the TOC. The TOC will be automatically created and
appears with a grey background colour around the text.

Hierarchy of Headings:-
• We can define the hierarchy of headings in a documents if it contains
multi-level headings.
• For example, you can categorize the headings in different heading levels,
such as 1, 1.1, 1.2 and so on.
• When chapters or section are added or deleted, the numberings of
headings levels automatically changes.

Steps to apply the hierarchy of headings:


• Open or create a document containing multi-level headings.
• Click on the Tools menu and select the Chapter Numbering option.
• The Chapter Numbering dialog Box opens. Select a level number under
Level. For example, select level 2.
• Choose a style from Paragraph style drop-drown box. For example, select
Heading 2.
• Choose the numbering style from Number drop-down box. For example,
select 1,2,3,…
• Similarly, select level, paragraph style, numbering for the Heading 3.
• Click on OK once completed. The hierarchy of headings appears.
• Now click on Insert > Table of Contents and Index > Table of Contents,
Index or Bibliography.
• Enter the title for the TOC. Click on OK.
• The TOC will be automatically created as shown in the figure.

AIM:
To explain the data consolidation by preparing 3 worksheets for product sales
and consolidate them.
PROCEDURE:
Preparing sheets for Data Consolidate
• Create a new file in spreadsheet software and enter data foe 5 products.
• Add two worksheets in the file and modify the data for all. Click on Sheet
tab and + icon here.
• Rename all worksheet like sheet 1- Ahmedabad, sheet 2- Surat and sheet
3 – Rajkot. Select the sheets respectively and do right click on Sheet tab >
Rename Sheet options. Type the sheet name and Click on OK button.
• Now add one more worksheet at the end and rename as Consolidate as
similar as step 2 and 3.

• Place the cursor in Cell B2 in Consolidated sheet.
• Click on Data > Consolidate option.
• The Consolidate dialog box will appear.
• Choose the Sum function.
• Select Data Source ranges respectively and click on Add button.

AIM:

PROCEDURE:
Steps to apply Subtotal
 Open the spreadsheet and enter the data.
 Select the desired range of cells that you want to use to calculate the
subtotals.
 Click on Data menu and then Subtotal option.
 Select column Project Name in Group By option. The subtotal will be
calculated for each value in the column.
 Now mark the column to Days Required in Calculate subtotals for list box,
to count the number of days required for each task.
 In Use function list box, select the function Sum.
 Click on OK button. The subtotals and grand total of days will appear in
the spreadsheet.

AIM:
To link data in a spreadsheet in Libre Office Calc.
PROCEDURE:

• Open a spreadsheet where the external data is to be inserted.
• Select the cell where the external data is to be inserted.
• Choose the Sheet menu and click on the Link to External Data option. The
External Data dialog box opens.
• Type the URL of a source file in the URL of External Source field or click on
the Browse button to select a source file.
• In the Available Tables/Ranges list, select the named ranges or tables that
you want to insert.
• You can also specify that the ranges or tables are updated every (number
of) second.
• Click on OK to insert the linked data.

PROCEDURE:
Steps to insert a Hyperlink
• Bring the mouse pointer at the point where you want to insert a
hyperlink. or
• Select the text that you want to put as a hyperlink.
• Choose Insert>Hyperlink from the menu bar.
• The Hyperlink dialog box. It contains the following Categories:
• Internet: It enables you to create a hyperlink to access a web address,
normally starting with [Link] If you select this category, choose the type
of hyperlink (web or FTP,) and enter the required web address (URL).
• Mail: It opens an email messages that is pre-addressed to a particular
recipient. If you choose this category, specify the receiver address and the
subject.
• Document: It enables you to create a hyperlink to access a place in either
the current document or another existing document .If you choose this
category ,then:
• Specify the document path by clicking on the Open File button.

• Enter the target in the Target in Document field, if you want to link to a
target in a spreadsheet.
• Select whether the hyperlink in inserted as text or button in the Form
field.
• Specify the visible text or button caption for the hyperlink in the Text
field.
• New Document: It creates a hyperlink to create a new document . If you
select this category, then:
• Specify a File name in the File field.
• Select a type of file in the File Type field.
• Select whether the hyperlink is inserted as a text or button in the Form
field.
• Specify the visible text or button caption for the hyperlink in the Text
field.
• Enter a name for the hyperlink in the Name field
• Select the required category to create hyperlink. For example, select
Document in the Hyperlink dialog box, and enter the document path.
• Click on OK to insert the link.

LEARNING OUTCOME – Goal Seek application in spreadsheet using Libre Office
Calc
AIM:
To demonstrate goal seek application in a spreadsheet using Libre Office Calc.
PROCEDURE:
❖ Goal seek is a useful tool to Calc .
❖ It is used to set a goal to find the optimum value for one or more target
variables given with the certain conditions .
❖ It allows you to try different values in the formula to arrive at a solution
for the input value.
Steps to perform Goal seek:
 Enter the data as shown in figure
 Enter the Formula=PMT(Interest_Rate/12,NPER, Loan_Amount,0,Type)
in cell B5 and press Enter to get the calculated value.
 Choose the Tools menu> Goal seek option .
 The Goal Seek dialog box opens as shown in Figure. Define the values in
the following fields, as per your requirement.
 Formula cell : It contains the reference of the cell that has a formula . For
example, click in the Formula cell field and select the cell B5 in the sheet,
which has the formula.
 Target value: It contains the value that you want to achieve as a new
result. So, enter the desired result of the formula in the Target value
field, which here is 50,000.
 Variables cell: It contains the value that you want to adjust in order to
reach the Target . For this, click in the Variable cell field and select cell
B1; whose value is to be changed .
Click on OK and you will get a pop -up displaying the result. Click on Yes to
insert it in cell B1 and notice the output in the Figure. .

PROCEDURE:
Creating a new database:
When you launch the LibreOffice Base on your computer, the Database Wizard
opens. Follow the given steps to create a new database:
▪ Choose the Create a new database option and click on Next.
▪ You will move on to the next screen. Here, stay with the default settings
and click on Finish.
▪ The Save As dialog box opens. It holds default name for the database in
the File Name field as New Database1. Here, type a new name for the
database, for example Students.
▪ Click on OK to save the database. You will get the main window of the
database.

table using Libre Office Base
AIM:
To create a table in Libre Office Base using Wizard view and insert data in the
table.
PROCEDURE:
Creating a Table using the Table wizard
LibreOffice Base provides the Table Wizard, which is designed to start with the
basic structure of a table. Later, you can modify the structure of the table as per
your requirement.
Suppose, you have created a database file with the name KIPS. In KIPS database,
to create a table, click on the Use Wizard to Create Table option in the Database
Tasks Pane. The Table Wizard opens. Now, follow these steps:
STEP 1: Select Fields:
 In first step of wizard select the Category either Business or Personal,
 Each category has sample tables from which you can choose. For example,
choose Employees table.
 Each table has a list of available fields. Select the required fields under the
Available fields and shift them in the Selected fields list box.
 Now choose a table from list of table. As I have selected Employees table.
 Click on Next and select field types and all if you want to change it. Click
on Next. I have selected EmployeeID, Firstname, Lastname, Salary,
Department, MobileNumber.
 Now, click on Next to move on to Step 2.

STEP 2: Set Types and Formats


 After selecting the fields, you need to specify the field type. A field type
determines which type of value a field will have. The Table Wizard sets
the default field types for the fields selected by you. However, you can
make changes to meet your needs.
 Click on each field, one at a time, and make the changes as per your
requirement.
 Click on Next to move on to Step 3.

STEP 3: Set Primary Key


 Set a primary key for your table in this step. Click on Use an existing field
as a Primary Key. I have selected EmployeeID as Primary key. Click on
Next.

❖ In Step 4, you can assign a name for the table or use the default name. In
this example, fields of the Employees table are used. Therefore, the Table
Wizard suggests Employees as the table name.
❖ Specify a relevant name for the table.
❖ Select the Insert data immediately option to save the table design and
open the table to enter the data.
❖ Click on Finish. You will get the Employees table for KIPS database with
the primary key field Employeeld containing Auto value in the Table Data
View.
❖ If you wish to change the table name then type new name for the table
and click on Insert.

❖ To insert data in a table, follow these steps:
❖ Open the database in which the table exists. For example, the KIPS
database.
❖ The KIPS database has a table: EMPLOYEES.
❖ Open the table in which the data is to be inserted. For example, double-
click on the EMPLOYEES table to open it.
❖ The EMPLOYEES table opens in the Table Data View.
❖ Start typing a record and press the Tab key to add next record.
❖ Add seven records in the table.
❖ This is the most common way to enter data in a database

LEARNING OUTCOME – Creating Query in Libre Office Base using Query Wizard
AIM:
To create a query in Libre Office Base using Query Wizard and to retrieve data
using queries.
PROCEDURE:
Creating a query using the Query Wizard
❖ Open an existing database from which you wish to retrieve the data.
❖ Choose Queries in the Database Objects pane.
❖ Select the Use Wizard to Create Queries option in the Tasks pane.
The Query Wizard dialog box appears. Select a table (from which you wish to
retrieve records) from the Tables list box

❖ Now add the fields that you wish to have in the query result.
❖ Select the required field in the Available fields box and click on the Left to
Right Single Arrow button or just double-click on the field. The
selected field gets shifted to the Fields in the Query box.
❖ If you want to add all the fields in one go, click on the Left to Right Double
Arrow button.
❖ Once you have selected the required fields then click on Next button.

Note: here, the ascending order is selected, by default.


❖ Now, click on the Next button. You will reach at the next screen that asks you
to specify the condition. As you are creating a simple query to retrieve Id,
name and mobile numbers of the students without any criteria, so there is no
need to specify a condition. Simply, click on Next to move to the next step in
the wizard.
❖ In the next step, select the type of the query by choosing Detailed query or
Summary query. The Detailed query option is selected, by default. Go with
this option and click on Next.

❖ Now, assign alternative names to the fields, if required or stay with the
original field names. Click on Next.
❖ The overview screen appears in the wizard. Now, enter a new name in the
Name of the query box, if required, or continue with the default name.

❖ Observe that Display query option is selected, by default. Stay with this
selection to view the result of the query.
❖ Now, click on the Finish button. You will get the result of the query.
❖ Notice, the S_ID field is listed in the descending order with the Name and
Mobile_Number fields.

LEARNING OUTCOME – Creating Forms in Libre Office Base using Query Wizard
AIM:
To create a Form in Libre Office Base using Wizard view.
PROCEDURE:
Steps to create a Form using the wizard option
• Open an existing database and click on the forms in the Database objects
pane.
• Select the use wizard to create form option in the database tasks pane as
shown in the figure
• The form wizard open as shown in the figure. In the first step, do the
following:
• Select the table on which the form is to be created under the tables or
queries list box.
• Select the fields you want.

• Click on next. You will reach the second step.


• The second step of wizard asks you to add a subform. A subform is a form
that is another form. For now, skip to add the subform and click on Next
You will reach the fifth step of the wizard that asks you to arrange to
controls as shown in the figure
• Here, you can set the layout of the form by choosing a layout under
arrangement of the main form.

In the next step, specify the data entry mode as shown in figure.
• If you want to use the form to add new records in the table, select the
first option(the form is to be used for entering new data only. Existing
data will not be displayed)
• Otherwise, stay with the option selected, by default. The default option
allows you to retrieve, add, or modify the data.
• Click on next. You will reach the seventh step.
• In the seventh step of the wizard, set the style of the form.

• Click on next. You will reach the eighth step


• In the eighth step, enter a name for the form, and then specify how to
proceed after creating the form by choosing either work with the form or
modify the form option as shown in the figure.

• Click on finish to complete the steps.

Wizard
AIM:
To create a Report in Libre Office Base using Wizard view.
PROCEDURE:
Steps to create a Report using wizard option
❖ Open an existing database.
❖ Click on the Reports in the Database Objects pane.
❖ Select the Use Wizard to Create Report option in the Database Tasks
pane.
❖ The Report Wizard opens. In the first step, select the table on which the
report is to be created under the Tables or queries list box.
❖ Then, select the fields you want in your form by clicking on the Left to
Right Single Arrow button or Left to Right Double Arrow button.

❖ Click on Next to move to the second step.
❖ In the second step, specify labels for each field, if required.
❖ By default, Base displays the field names of the selected table as label
names.
❖ Click on Next.
❖ You will move to the third step. Here, you can group the results by one or
more fields. For example, choose to group the results by the FirstName
field. Click on Next.
❖ In the fourth step, specify the sorting order to get the result of the report
in specific orders. By default, results are sorted by the group field.
❖ Click on Next. You will reach the fifth step. Here, choose a layout and
orientation for the report.
❖ For example, select the In blocks, labels left option under Layout of data,
and Portrait/Landscape under Orientation.

❖ Click on Next. You will reach the sixth step as shown in the Figure. Here,
enter the title and type of the report.
❖ By default, it displays the table name as title, and you can specify the title
of your choice.
❖ Choose the Dynamic report or Static report option. By default, Dynamic
report is selected.
