3) Explain question:
Two statements regarding the rising of balloons and variation of atmospheric pressure with
height are given. We have to select the correct statements.
Concept:
Buoyant Force.
Solution:
The hydrogen–filled balloon initially rises in the air because the weight of the displaced air i.e.,
upthrust is greater than the weight of the hydrogen and the balloon. This force is similar to the
force experienced when an empty container is dipped in water.
The different in densities causes the less dense object to be pushed above. Since the density of
air decreases with height therefore the balloon halts at a particular height. At this particular
point, the density to the air will be equal to the density of the hydrogen inside the balloon.
The force acting on the balloon downwards that is the weight of the balloon will be balanced
by the buoyant force acting on the balloon at this particular point. Hence the net force acting
on the balloon will be cancelled out and the balloon stops rising.
So, the assertion is correct. However, the reason is incorrect since the atmospheric pressure
does not reach zero at that height. It just decreases such that the density of the atmosphere
equals the density of the hydrogen inside the balloon.
Final answer: option (3)
4)
5) As the cork moves up, the force due to buoyancy remains constant. As its speed increases,
the retarding force due to viscosity increases, being proportional to the speed. Thus the
acceleration gradually decreases. The acceleration is variable, and hence the relation between

27) Explanation: Asking about the total number of stereoisomers.
Concept: This question is based on counting of stereoisomers.
Solution: In unsymmetrical molecules total number of stereoisomers = 2n where n = number
of stereoisomers generating center.
Total number of stereoisomers generating center = 2
Total number of stereoisomers = 2n = 22 = 4
28)
The correct answer is option (C)
29)
Ans Option (A), (D)
Concept :- Conditions for G-I
Condition no 1:- Restricted rotation must be present.
Condition no 2 :- The two groups at each end of restricted bond must be different.
Condition no 3 :- Terminal valency present in the same plane. G.I is also observed in case of
substituted cycloalkanes
Option (A) incorrect because
Terminal valency around restricted rotation are not same on the two double bonds in the two
branches hence it will show G.I.
option (B) Incorrect ; because
it will show G.I according to substituted cycloalkane
Option (C) Incorrect ; because it show G.I according to condition no 2
Option (D) Correct because it doesn't show G.I

Explain the question : To select correct pair of isomers with their relationship.
Concept : This question is based on structural isomerism and Geometrical isomerism
Solution :-
(1) are position isomers
(2) are identical
(3) CH3–CH2–OH & CH3–O–CH3 are functional isomers
(4) are not tautomer.
31)
The correct answer is option (A)
32)
Question Explanation : The question evaluates whether every compound with a double bond
exhibits geometrical isomerism and if that behavior is due to restricted rotation.
Concept: Geometrical Isomerism, Restricted Rotation, Alkene Structure
Solution: All alkenes have restricted rotation about the C=C bond because of the π‑bond.
However, not all double‑bonded compounds show geometrical isomerism. For this isomerism
to occur, each carbon of the double bond must have two different substituents. If identical
groups are attached to one or both carbons, no cis–trans forms exist. Therefore, Statement‑I is
false, though Statement‑II is true—the second statement correctly describes a general
property of alkenes but doesn’t make the first one true.

37) Question Explanation: Identify an odd-electron molecule that is both planar and polar.
Concept: Molecular Geometry and Polarity of Radicals.
Solution:
A. : The methyl radical has sp2 hybridization and a planar geometry, but it is non-polar due
to its symmetrical structure.
B. : The trifluoromethyl radical has sp3 hybridization and a pyramidal geometry (non-planar)
because of the high electronegativity of Fluorine.
C. NO2: Nitrogen dioxide is an odd-electron species (17 valence electrons) with sp2 hybridization.
It has a bent geometry, which is planar (all three atoms lie in one plane) and polar due to the
net dipole moment.
D. : The chlorate radical is sp3 hybridized and has a pyramidal geometry.
