1. Introduction
Background of Study
The literary work has its own definition taken from each different literature expert. According to
Pradopo (1994: 26) the literary work is as the picture of the world and human life, the main
criteria that is putted on the literary work is ‘truth’, or everything that wants to be pictured by the
author. Through that process, the reader of their literary work will be able to catch the
characteristics of the author related with the world around him/her.
In a drama there are many elements which build the unity of the whole story. One of the
elements is a
character
Characterization is the characteristic of a characteristic of a character presented in a literary
[Link] is the characteristic of a characteristic of a character presented in a literary
work. According to (Nurgiyantoro, 1955), characterization is a figure or people's character who
is put forward in narrative work which is interpreted by the readers as having a moral quality and
certain tendency through dialogues and their behavior. According to (Nurgiyantoro, 1955),
characterization is a figure or people's character who is put forward in narrative work which is
interpreted by the readers having a moral quality and certain tendency through dialogues and
their behavior.
Traumatic Experience is an unbearable situation that forces our mind to rethink memory in the
past. It is introduced by Sigmund Freud that a situation which happens in a short time, that
“increase the strength of a given stimulus” which affecting someone to create fear
abnormally. Traumatic experience has a close relation to psychological trauma.
The post traumatic syndrome resulting from combat is similar to rape or violent crime.
(2005:146-147). His concept is developed by The American Psychological Association (APA)
with a new term called Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder. The information regarding post-
traumatic stress disorder symptoms are collected in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorder (DSM) in the first publication in 1980. DSM is the manual used by psychiatrists and
researchers to diagnose mental disorders.
Psychoanalysis is a method of medical treatment for those who suffer from nervous disorder
which was proposed by Sigmund Freud in 1896, psychoanalysis is concerned with the concept of
unconsciousness. According to Guerin, Labor, Morgan, Ressman, and Willingham The super-
ego works as the boundary between the id and the ego. It works as a judgment between right or
wrong and good or bad.
Morals are controlled by the moral concepts, the rules of morality to which the members of
culture have become accustomed to and which determine the expected behavior pattern of all
group members. Every society has values to arrange their life that contains some principles, ideas
and standards (Hurlock, Elizabeth, 1972:386). In a literary work, moral value is like a theme
which is expressed in the body of a story. A moral value is something that the researcher tries to
convey to the readers. It is the knowledge to be presented in a story. In general, morality can be
defined as the distinction between good and bad, right and wrong with regard to attitudes,
behavior, character, etc (Nurgiyantoro,2002:172).
Types of literary works is prose, drama, poetry,
novel, songs, etc. In this thesis researchers want to describe drama. A drama is defined as
a piece of literature which the intended
the purpose is to be performed in front of an audience. Drama are written in the form of a
script, and the story is told through the lines of
the characters played by actors.
. Character can be defined as any
person, animal, or figure represented in a
literary work.
In the drama the main character is Soe
Jin-Woo was depression because of his father
Seo Jae-Hyuk became a rape and murder suspect which was not his father’s did. He
has the condition of “Hyperthymesia” which allows him to remember almost every day in perfect
detail. To prove the innocence of his father, Jin-Woo becomes a lawyer.
2. METHOD OF RESEARCH
Research Design
In this chapter, the researcher discusses about method of research. Research is the process of
collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data in order to understand a phenomenon (Leedy &
Ormrod). The research process is systematic in that defining the objective, managing the data,
and communicating the findings occur within established frameworks and in accordance with
existing guidelines. The frameworks and guidelines provide researchers with an indication of
what to include in the research, how to perform the research, and what types of inferences are
probable based on the data collected. According to Creswell (2009:3), research design is plans
and the procedures for research to detailed methods of data collection and analysis.
The researcher get the data by using a descriptive qualitative method . Descriptive method is a
method that researches the status of humans, an object, a set of conditions, a system of thought,
or even a class of phenomenon at the present. Qualitative research is a research procedure which
produces written or spoken descriptive data of research that is possible to observe. Burhan (2008:
40-41), defines that qualitative study focuses on describing and analyzing a phenomenon, social
activity, perception, belief, individual and thought. Then, this research can be categorized as
library research. It is a research in which the way of collecting data taken from a variety of
literature. Literature meant here are not only the books, but also materials taken from journals,
magazines, newspapers, internet, etc.
The research design in this study can be described as an arrangement condition for collecting and
analyzing data which are taken from Remember Korean drama 2016 by the author of the drama
is Yoon Hyun-Ho. By using an objective approach, the researcher analyzed the psychology
analysis of the main character.
3 Psychoanalysis Seo Jin Woo
In this drama we can see the psychoanalysis of Seo Jin Woo. Based on the state of Sigmund
Freud in 1896, psychoanalysis is concerned with the concept of unconsciousness. The
unconsciousness can be described as a storehouse of painful experience, emotion, wound, fear,
guilty desire and unresolved conflict we don't want to know about. In this drama we can see that
Seo Jin Woo's psychology includes the concept of unconsciousness. Due to the pain from the
conflicts he was going through, the emotions and the wounds he went through. Freud developed
three personality elements: id, ego, and super-ego. As explained in the previous chapter, the three
elements of personality are related. We can see that Seo Jin Woo's character belongs to the ego
element. Which is where from the quote Alwisol (2014: 15), the ego develops from the id so that
humans are able to handle reality, so the ego works according to the principle of reality.
Seo Jin Woo is able to fight his pain, emotions and through painful experiences by
thinking in reality. Thinking in reality helps him clear his father's good name. If at that time he
did not think in reality, maybe until whenever everyone would think that he was the son of a
murderer.
Moral values in Remember
Basically, moral is the distinction
between bad and good conducts which can generally be accepted in a social life. In talking about
moral we can briefly say that moral is concerned with, or related to human behavior, especially
the distinction between good or bad, or right and wrong behavior.
There are many moral values that we can learn from the drama. So, in this drama we don't just
watch stories from dramas or see the actors. But in this drama we can learn moral values and
apply them in our lives. We can use these moral values as lessons in our daily lives. Types of
moral values:
1. Commitment to something greater than oneself
2. Self-respect, but with humbleness or respect to others, self-discipline, and
acceptance of personal responsibility 3. Respect and caring for others
4. Caring for other living things and
environment.
From the moral types above, we can
see that Seo Jin Woo's character, including the first type of moral value, is Commitment to
something greater than himself. Which is where in Remember Seo Jin Woo tries hard to find the
truth about his father's case so that his father gets justice. He also hopes that the laws in his
country can be fair to innocent people, especially to small people like himself. From this drama
we can also get lessons about life from Seo Jin Woo that we must seek justice and truth in our
lives. We can also learn the importance of defending and protecting our parents. In the now days
many children don't care about their parents.
Findings
In this section researchers provide findings about the character Seo Jin Woo based on the theory
above. Based on analysis the characterization above, we can know that the
characterization of Seo Jin Woo is a person who is persistent, smart, kind, and loves his family.
Traumatic experience of character Seo Jin Woo with his conditions are considered as avoidance
criteria of PTSD based on DSM IV. Beacause in the drama Seo Jin Woo tried to forget
everything about painful. Psychoanalysis of character Seo Jin Woo is based on Sigmund Freud in
1896, is the concept of unconsciousness. Character Seo Jin Woo in the drama described as a
storehouse of painful experience, emotion. In this drama we also learn about moral values, types
of moral values for character Seo JinWoo proposed by Kinnier [Link]. (2000) is commitment to
something greater than oneself, Seo Jin Woo to seek truth and justice for his father's case.
4 Conclusions
After analyzing Remember the writer Yoon Hyun Ho in the drama he wrote, here he wants to tell
about a child's struggle for his father. Which is where he struggled to free his father from a
murder charge. This drama focuses on the intelligence of the main character, legal injustice, and
the psychology of the main character.
Traumatic experience is a short event that forces our mind to rethink memory in the past. Most of
the people who have traumatic experiences tend to show a post- traumatic stress disorder. The
researcher found that Seo Jin Woo the main character of the drama, is suffered from Post-
Traumatic Stress Disorder. The writer concludes that because Seo Jin Woo shows some PTSD
symptoms. First, Seo Jin Woo attempts to avoid feeling that remembering one of the traumatic
events, he burns his book “ Memories I want to forget”. Second, Seo Jin Woo feeling sadness
and confusion after the traumatic event occurred because currently Seo Jin Woo is only living
alone because his father passed away. Third, Seo Jin Woo tried to forget the painful memories he
get Alzheimer's.
Seo Jin Woo's psychoanalysis includes unconsciousness where he feels fear and pain for what
happened to him and his father. The
personality of Seo Jin Woo is a super-ego where he is able to think about reality in order to be
able to help his father with this goal.
The moral values can be taken from this drama is Commitment to something greater.

1 Introduction
The development of information and communication technology has always increased with the
support of increasingly widespread globalization among Indonesian people. One of the
communication media is film. Film is a form of mass communication media. Film as a work of
cultural art as a means of entertainment is made based on artistic principles with sound or
without sound and can be demonstrated [1]. In addition, films have persuasive, informative, and
educational values that can teach moral messages in everyday life. Film also has the potential to
attract all levels of society so that the delivery of moral values can be conveyed to large
audiences quickly [2] PAUD is an ongoing process between learning and development. That is,
the learning experience and early development are the basis for the learning process and
subsequent development [3].
The impact that film has is so great, it is very effective as a medium for conveying moral values
packed with cinematography. Good or bad behavior or morals, the assess- ment is the norms that
apply in society [4]. The moral values contained in each film willdiffer according to the choice
of each film genre, including romance, horror, comedy, action, documentary and drama. One of
the most popular genres among young people today is the drama genre.
The word drama comes from the Greek “draomai” which means to do, apply, act and so on.
Drama is a life story illustrated with motion. The conflict of human nature is the main source of
drama [5]. Drama is a film genre that depicts the reality of human life, character and behavior,
with stories told through roles and dialogue. Stories in dramas contain conflicts and emotions
that are intended to affect people who watch or listen to the drama.
The influence caused by the development of global information and communication technology
has led to the influx of outside culture, as evidenced by the spread of Korean culture, one of
which is drama. The development process of Korean dramas in Indonesia is influenced by the
popularity of Korean dramas in other countries. No wonder the popularity of Korean dramas can
increase the enthusiasm of others who are not familiar with K-Pop culture, not only Indonesians
known as Korean Wave [6]. Korean dramas are one of the achievements of Hallyu culture that is
most loved by millions of people around the world [7]. Korean dramas are fictional stories that
depict the lives of Koreans using the Korean language, usually consisting of 16 episodes to 32
episodes that air for only a few weeks.
Korean dramas are popular because they have a variety of interesting genres and storylines, high-
quality cinematography, have original soundtracks, a definite number of episodes, do not stall the
storyline, and mature exhibition acting. In Korean dramas there are several genres including
romance, melodrama, action, medical, zombie, fantasy, historical, sports, science fiction,
military, police, and law. The romance genre has the most interest because romance stories are
the main focus of Korean culture. But not only romance, there is one Korean drama that is being
discussed a lot because it carries the theme of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with the legal
genre. The play is called “Exstraordinary Attorney Woo”.
“Exstraordinary Attorney Woo” is the latest Korean drama in 2022 that tells the story of Woo
Young-woo (played by Park Eun-bin), the first lawyer in South Korea to have Autism spectrum
disorder (ASD), who is often looked down upon by those around him, despite having a
deficiency Young-woo is able to exceed the abilities of normal people and still work hard.
From the synopsis above, there are several messages that are implied for character learning in
everyday life. Personality traits are the values of a person formed through the process of
interaction with one’s environment [8]. This theme is a novelty for a Korean drama story that
focuses its story on a person with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and how he communicates
with those around him in detail and realistically, without overdoing it. Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD), more commonly known as autism, is a neurodevelopmental disorder. This
disorder affects a person’s language development and ability to communicate, interact, and
behave Because it raises this new thing, this drama is a success and is widely discussed as the
“best healing series of 2022”.
Research on moral values in drama, has previously been carried out by [9, 6, 10]. Research on
moral values in films, has previously been carried out by [2, 4, 11, 12, 13]. Research on moral
values in the novel, has previously been carried out
Moral Value in Korean Drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo 2403
[14, 15, 16]. Meanwhile, the research on moral values in previous poems was researched by [17,
18, 19].
The delivery of moral values in everyday life is very important in shaping the good character of
students. Therefore, the delivery of moral values can be implemented into a literary work in the
form of plays, films, novels, poems, and so on to influence many circles of society, especially
young people. The purpose of this study is to analyze the moral values contained in the drama
“Exstraordinary Attorney Woo” and their imple- mentation in Indonesian learning, especially to
develop the profile of pancasila learners. The benefits of this research are expected to be learning
in living through positive moral values and can be used as a reference for learning teaching
materials Indonesian.
2 Research Method
This research uses qualitative descriptive research. Research with a descriptive type is a research
method that seeks to describe and interpret objects according to what they are [20]. Qualitative
research aims to understand more deeply human and social problems [21]. So, qualitative
descriptive research is research that focuses on the phenomenon of the reality of social problems
that are studied in depth. The research method used is a qualitative content analysis method using
semiotic analysis. Semiotics is the science of signs. The term is taken from the Yunani word
Semeion which means “sign”. Signs are everywhere, they can be words, pictures, sounds, the
structure of literary works, the structure of films, musical structures and so on.
The object of this study is moral values. The subject used is the Korean drama “Exs- traordinary
Attorney Woo”. The source of the data of this study is the dialogue scenes of the characters in
the play. Data collection techniques use observation and documen- tation techniques. The
observation technique is non-participant, that is, the researcher observes and watches the Korean
drama “EAW”, then recorded and selected impor- tant scenes according to the topic of the
problem. The documentation technique uses scenes that contain moral messages in the play, then
researched by the method of content analysis. Data analysis techniques with interactive models,
namely after collecting, data reduction is made to select relevant data, then verify the withdrawal
of conclusions.
3 Result and Discussion
Result

competition and cooperation between colleagues to family issues.
4 Conclusion
The Korean drama “EAW” is a legal drama that focuses on the story of Woo Young-woo’s life
journey as the first lawyer in South Korea to suffer from Autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In
this drama, there are two aspects of moral values seen from the relationship between man and
himself which consists of, independent, critical reasoning, creative thinking, never giving up,
working hard, patience, no grudges, and human relationships with human beings consisting of,
stop discrimination, cooperate, care for others, admit mistakes, equal opportunity, compassion,
true friendship. The implementation of the moral value of drama is applied for development into
the profile of pancasila students in accordance with the independent curriculum. There are four
dimensional aspects, which can be developed, namely, the independent dimension, the
cooperative dimension, the critical reasoning dimension, and the creative dimension.
Based on the results of the study, researchers are aware of shortcomings, both limi- tations in
theory and limitations in data. Furthermore, researchers should deepen more about moral values
in literary works that can be implemented as a medium of learning Indonesian, considering that
this research has not been able to fully explain the variations in the implementation of moral
values in drama literature to learning.
