major achievements. These qualities also build strong character by developing
responsibility and self-control. In today’s distraction-filled world, disciplined
habits are essential. Parents and teachers play a key role in nurturing these traits
in children. Ultimately, disciplined and consistent individuals are better equipped

7.(a) Importance of Discipline in Student Life

Good morning respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends.

I am Mehul / Meera, Head Boy/Head Girl of our school. Today, I wish to speak on
The Importance of Discipline in Student Life.

Discipline is the foundation of success. It teaches us punctuality, self-control, and

responsibility. A disciplined student manages time effectively, balances studies
and hobbies, and achieves goals with confidence. Without discipline, even talent
remains incomplete.

In student life, discipline helps shape character and prepares us for future
challenges. Following rules, respecting teachers, and maintaining regular study
habits are signs of disciplined behaviour. Let us understand that discipline is not a
restriction but a path to freedom and success.

Thank you. Have a disciplined day.

OR

(B) Role of Youth in Nation Building

Good morning everyone.

I am Sandeep / Sakshi, School Prefect. Today, I would like to speak on The Role of
Youth in Nation Building.

Youth are the backbone of a nation. Their energy, creativity, and determination
can bring positive change. By focusing on education, innovation, and social
responsibility, the youth can strengthen the country’s future. Participation in
community service, respect for diversity, and ethical values help build a strong
nation.

If today’s youth are disciplined and responsible, tomorrow’s nation will be

prosperous. Let us pledge to contribute positively to society.
Thank you.

8. DEBATE (150–200 words)

(a) For the Motion: Social Media Does More Harm Than Good

Respected Chairperson, honourable judges, and dear friends,

I stand for the motion that Social Media Does More Harm Than Good.

While social media claims to connect people, it often leads to addiction,

distraction, and mental stress. Students waste valuable time scrolling instead of
studying or engaging in physical activities. Cyberbullying, fake news, and
unrealistic comparisons damage self-esteem and mental health.

Moreover, excessive use reduces real-life communication skills and promotes

loneliness. Many young minds fall prey to misinformation, which influences
opinions negatively. Though social media has benefits, its misuse outweighs its
advantages.

Unless used responsibly, social media becomes a source of harm rather than
growth. Hence, I strongly believe it does more harm than good.

Thank you.

(b) For the Motion: Examinations are Necessary to Test True Ability

Respected judges and dear friends,

I stand for the motion that Examinations are Necessary to Test True Ability.

Examinations assess a student’s understanding, discipline, and time management.

They motivate learners to revise concepts and improve performance. Exams also
help identify strengths and weaknesses, guiding future improvement.

Without examinations, there would be no standard way to measure academic

progress. Competitive exams prepare students for real-life challenges, where
performance under pressure matters.
Therefore, examinations are essential tools for evaluating true ability and
ensuring academic excellence.

Thank you.
