ICSE Mathematics Test Paper

Chapters: GST, Banking, Linear Inequations, Quadratic Equations, Factorization of Polynomials

Time: 2½ hours Max Marks: 80

Section A (40 Marks)

(Attempt all questions from this section.)

1. Q1.

i. A mobile phone is listed at ₹15,000. GST at 12% is added. Find the total price the customer
has to pay.
ii. Factorize completely: 2x² - 5x - 3
iii. Solve: 5x - 3 < 2x + 6, and represent the solution on the number line.
iv. Calculate compound interest for 2 years on ₹8,000 at 5% per annum, compounded
annually.
v. Find the roots of: x² - 7x + 12 = 0

2. Q2.

i. A dealer buys an air conditioner for ₹40,000. He charges 18% GST while selling it. Find the
total bill amount paid by the customer.
ii. Factorize: x³ + 6x² + 11x + 6
iii. Solve the inequality: -2x + 5 ≥ 9.
iv. A person deposits ₹12,000 for 2 years at 6% p.a. compounded half-yearly. Find the amount.
v. Solve the quadratic equation: 2x² + 3x - 2 = 0

Section B (40 Marks)

(Attempt any four questions from this section.)

3. Q3.

i. A TV is marked at ₹32,000. It is sold at a discount of 10%. If GST is 18%, calculate:

ii. i. Discount amount
iii. ii. Selling price after discount
iv. iii. CGST and SGST
v. iv. Final price to be paid by customer
vi. Factor completely: x² - 9x + 20

4. Q4.

i. Solve the inequation:

3x - 7 < 5x + 1 ≤ 4x + 4
Represent the solution on a number line.
ii. Factorize: 2x³ + x² - 6x - 3
5. Q5.

6. Q6.

i. Factorize: x⁴ - 16
ii. Solve the inequality and show solution on the number line:
2 - 3x > 5 - x
iii. A dealer sells a washing machine for ₹27,140 after allowing 7% discount on the marked
price and charging 12% GST. Find the marked price.

7. Q7.

i. Solve the quadratic equation:

x² + 2x - 35 = 0
ii. Factor completely: x³ - 2x² - x + 2
iii. A person deposits ₹10,000 for 1½ years at 8% p.a. compounded half-yearly. Find the
compound interest.
