Quality Management
During the execution phase of SmartBudget, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality product is
central to our process. Quality is not an afterthought; it's integrated into every task, especially
since the software handles sensitive personal finance data. The following actions are being taken
to meet our quality goals:
• Test-driven development: We aim to build features (like the expense tracker and financial
goal-setting modules) alongside unit tests to ensure functionality is continuously verified.
• User experience testing: Given our target audience includes people of all ages and tech
familiarity, we continuously test and refine the UI to ensure simplicity, readability, and
responsiveness across devices.
• Data validation: Special care is being taken to ensure income/expense inputs, calculations, and
goal tracking reflect true financial behavior.
• Security protocols: Security is part of our quality standard. We're implementing basic
encryption for local and cloud storage, with plans to apply secure authentication methods and
data handling standards.
• Peer reviews: Team members review each other's code and contributions regularly to ensure
adherence to the project's quality criteria and standards.
By integrating these quality practices, we aim to reduce the need for rework and ensure that users
receive a reliable and trustworthy app.
Resource Management
The structure of our team allows us to effectively split up responsibilities and use each
individual's strengths. We collectively manage the workload and track it using shared tools:
• Task Assignment: Each person's role is broken down by feature development, research,
design, and documentation. For instance:
o Chloee manages the timeline and delivery checkpoints.
o Nithin centers on the backend logic and database structure.
o SooMin contributes to visual design and app accessibility.
o Shreyasi and Hendriya handle interface layout and programming.
• Workload Balancing: We distribute tasks among us using a weekly sprint format. We also
adjust resources when certain areas—like UI or backend—fall behind. If one part is lagging, we
reallocate instead of just catching up at the end.
• Tracking Progress: We use Google Sheets (and for some, [Link] or Trello) to keep
up with the team meeting the timeline and hitting milestones.
This adaptable, collaborative resource management strategy lets us remain focused and maintain
momentum even through the tough phases of project execution.
Communications Management
Keeping our internal communication effective is crucial for maintaining our team's alignment
and efficiency. Here's a description of how our team manages it:
Weekly Team Meetings: These are held via Zoom, and in them we primarily conduct reviews of
our progress. We also assign upcoming tasks, troubleshoot any blockers, and discuss our
immediate next steps and decisions.
Shared Workspace (Google Drive): This is where we maintain a folder that is shared with the
whole team. Its contents are always accessible to everyone on the team. What kind of trip wires
are potentially within reach for each of us?
Project Updates: Every week, progress on tasks is documented and then discussed with the
group during our team meetings. Our team lead, Chloee, is the primary audience for our progress
documentation.
Communication Protocols: Basically, everyone in the team knows when to send an update, how
to ask for help, and what kind of aforementioned ends and means need to be concerning and
discussed.
Work Execution and Deliverables
So far, our team has rolled up its sleeves and actively started to build and test the core
functionalities of SmartBudget. The major deliverables in execution include:
• An income and expense tracking system (MVP) that works
• A prototype that handles goal setting and progress visualization
• App interface wireframes and mockups
• User guide drafts and tech docs
• A basic working version of offline functionality
We’re executing the project in short iterations using an Agile-like sprint model. After each
sprint, the team sits down and revisits our output; they give us feedback that we use to adjust our
next-cycle plan. This lets us maintain flexibility while also giving us the space needed to
improve feature quality—that is, attend to the not-so-fun areas of plumbing and wiring inside
SmartBudget that will add to its overall user experience.

well-managed resources, clear communication, and a strong commitment to quality, our team is
working collaboratively to produce a usable, scalable, and secure personal finance app. Our
efforts are focused not just on functionality but also on creating an inclusive and intuitive
