Mr. Hare marries the princess.
Once upon a time, there lived a king who had a beautiful daughter. The princess
was so beautiful that every man wanted to marry her. The only problem was that
the king made it difficult for the men. He gave them difficult tasks which most of
them could not do.
Among the tasks were: cutting down a hill, carrying water in a basket and drinking
hot water from a pot.
One day, Hare decided to go to the palace to try his luck. When the king saw Hare,
he laughed and said to him, ‘All serious men have failed, will you succeed?’
‘I am going to marry your daughter, King,’ replied Hare.
The king ordered Hare to be given the tools to use. Hare was very clever. He made
other animals do the jobs for him.
Finally, he came to the last task and he was asked to drink boiling water from a
pot. He tricked the king by telling him many stories until the water was cool. He
then drank it without being burnt.
