CLASS 8 NCERT MATHS FORMULAS

1. Algebraic Expressions & Identities

(a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2
(a-b)^2 = a^2 - 2ab + b^2
(a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2
(x+a)(x+b) = x^2 + (a+b)x + ab
(a+b+c)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + c^2 + 2(ab+bc+ca)

2. Mensuration
Square: Area = a^2, Perimeter = 4a
Rectangle: Area = l×b, Perimeter = 2(l+b)
Triangle: Area = 1/2 × base × height
Parallelogram: Area = base × height
Trapezium: Area = 1/2 × (sum of parallel sides) × height
Rhombus: Area = 1/2 × d1 × d2

Cube: TSA = 6a^2, Volume = a^3

Cuboid: TSA = 2(lb + bh + hl), Volume = l×b×h
Cylinder: CSA = 2πrh, TSA = 2πr(r+h), Volume = πr^2h

3. Exponents & Powers

a^m × a^n = a^(m+n)
a^m / a^n = a^(m-n)
(a^m)^n = a^(mn)
(ab)^m = a^m b^m
(a/b)^m = a^m / b^m
a^0 = 1
a^-m = 1/a^m

Standard Form: N = a × 10^n

4. Direct & Inverse Proportion

Direct: y = kx, x1/x2 = y1/y2
Inverse: y = k/x, x1y1 = x2y2

5. Factorization
a^2 - b^2 = (a+b)(a-b)
x^2 + (a+b)x + ab = (x+a)(x+b)
a^2 + 2ab + b^2 = (a+b)^2
a^2 - 2ab + b^2 = (a-b)^2

6. Introduction to Graphs
Origin = (0,0)
Ordered Pair = (x,y)
Quadrants:
1st (+,+), 2nd (-,+), 3rd (-,-), 4th (+,-)
Linear Equation: y = mx + c
