Common questions

Powered by AI

To initialize the installation of the TrailerWIN program manually using a USB card, you need to first flip open the connector on the card, carefully cut and bend out the USB contact, and connect it to the computer without bending it too much to avoid damage . Then, open the folder to view files manually using Windows Explorer and double-click the TC_Setup_xxxx.exe file to start the installation . The installation doesn't start automatically due to security reasons, as unauthorized changes to files are prevented by a seal placed over the USB connector .

To ensure security and reliability, a seal is placed over the USB connector to prevent unauthorized use and alterations to files after production . This physical measure ensures that the installation files remain unchanged and reduces the risk of malware introduction. Moreover, manual initiation of installation prevents automatic file execution, which enhances control over the installation process and protects against unauthorized installations that may breach data integrity . The combination of these measures secures the installation against unauthorized modifications and enhances user trust in the program's reliability.

The license agreement for the TrailerWIN software restricts use and modifications strictly to specific conditions. The software can only be used in one office or factory area and cannot be used across different company locations or addresses . Users are prohibited from making changes, decompiling, disassembling, or reverse engineering the software or databases . Copying, renting, selling, or leasing the software is also not allowed, thereby securing the developer's intellectual property .

The TrailerWIN license expires after five years, necessitating a purchase of license reactivation for continued use . This expiration necessitates planning and financial allocation for a seamless transition to a renewed license. Upon expiration, users should contact the software provider to process the license reactivation, involving the payment of fees determined by any skipped updates or continued usage potential. This consideration highlights the importance of understanding the license terms at purchase and evaluating the cost-effectiveness of regular updates versus the cumulative financial and operational load of reactivation.

The update policy for the TrailerWIN program requires users to update the program regularly once a year as new features and models are introduced . The updates are cumulative, meaning that if a user skips updates, they will have to pay for all missed updates when they decide to update in the future . This policy encourages regular updating and ensures users have the latest features. However, it may be financially burdensome for users who skip updates and later decide to reactivate their license, which expires after five years .

The TrailerWIN software can be used on a computer network only if the network operates within one office or one factory area . This restricts usage to ensure compliance with the licensing terms and minimize unauthorized distribution beyond the intended operational scope. By enforcing these conditions, the agreement seeks to maintain software integrity and protect the developer's revenue streams from widespread unauthorized usage.

If a user encounters disk space issues during TrailerWIN installation, strategies to facilitate troubleshooting include ensuring that the hard drive has at least 16 GB of free storage, as recommended . Users should first delete unnecessary files or applications to free up disk space. They may also move large files to external storage devices temporarily. Checking for disk defragmentation could also optimize available space. Additionally, running disk cleanup utilities would help to remove system cache and temporary files efficiently, potentially resolving any storage-related impediments impacting installation.

The installation guide warns that bending the USB contactor too much when plugging it into the computer port can potentially damage the USB port . To prevent this, users should handle the USB connection with care, ensuring they do not tilt the contactor up or down significantly during insertion . This precautionary step minimizes the risk of mechanical damage to the USB port and ensures the integrity of the connection, critical for reliable software installation. Users should also verify the correct orientation of the USB card upon connection to prevent forced insertion, which could lead to hardware damage.

The User Account Control (UAC) prompt is essential during the TrailerWIN installation as it requests permission to execute the setup file with administrator privileges . Its function is to protect the system from unauthorized changes by prompting the user to confirm that the installation is intentional and safe. The UAC prompt ensures that potentially harmful software installations are hindered, reinforcing overall system security. By requiring explicit permission, the UAC mechanism adds a layer of defense against malware and other unwanted software applications.

The Rockey4ND USB key installs itself automatically when first connected to the USB port, requiring no additional driver disc . In contrast, the older Sentinel USB key requires a separate driver that must be downloaded from the website . This distinction highlights the evolution of USB key technology and the need for users to adapt download practices depending on the key used. The Sentinel key’s requirement for driver installation adds an additional step to the setup process, necessitating familiarity with driver management.
