jPHYDIT Installation Guide for Windows

Installation Guide for jPHYDIT on MS Windows

1. JAVA runtime environment (JRE) must be installed before you install jPHYDIT. If your Windows does not have JRE installed,
1) Download Java Runtime Environment. JRE is available at [Link] Download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language 2) Run the downloaded JRE installation file. 3) JRE will be installed at C:\program files\java\jre1.4.x_x.

2. Installation of jPHYDIT
1) Download jPHYDIT installation file ([Link]) from [Link] 2) Double click [Link] file. This should initiate the installation process. JRE will execute .jar files directly. When you have a unpacking program (e.g. Winzip) which recognize [Link] file as a packed file, the program will open [Link] instead of JRE. In such a case, change Windows setting to get .jar files opened by C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.x\bin\[Link]. 3) When the installation process is initiated, click Next.

4) Choose directory where you want jPHYDIT to be installed. As default setting, jPHYDIT is installed in C:\Program Files\jphydit. Click Next to proceed to next step.

5) Choose a web browser. The default web browser is C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\[Link]. 6) Proceed by click Next to complete all installation process. 7) If the installation is successful, jPHYDIT program ([Link]) will be installed in C:\Program Files\jphydit\.

3. Executing jPHYDIT
1) Once the installation was successful, you can execute jPHYDIT by clicking C:\Program Files\jphydit\[Link] file. 2) It is much easier if you create a shortcut of C:\Program Files\jphydit\[Link] in your favorite place such as Desktop. 3) C:\Program Files\jphydit\[Link] by itself is not a executable file, but run by JRE ([Link]).
