Data Structure and Encoding Analysis

This study examined the use of choral reading to improve students' pronunciation of English short and long vowels. The researcher conducted a classroom action research with 24 students over two cycles of four meetings each. Pronunciation tests were used to measure students' pronunciation abilities. Results showed that students' pronunciation scores improved significantly from cycle 1 to cycle 2, with short vowel pronunciation increasing from 5.6% to 7.33% and long vowel pronunciation increasing from 5.46% to 7.35%. The findings indicate that choral reading is an effective technique for improving students' pronunciation.

Could improving students pronunciation in speaking through Choral Reading Technique (A Classroom Action Research at the first year of SMA Bawakaraeng Makassar). Guided by Muis Badulu and Amar Maruf. The objective of the research was to find out the improvement students pronunciation in speaking of English short vowels and long vowels through Choral Reading Technique at the First Year of SMA Bawakaraeng Makassar. The researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR). The researcher had conducted two cycles, where each cycle consists of four meetings. It employed pronunciation test as instrument. The number subject of the research is 24 students. The researcher took data real from the school to know the students pronunciation. The results of the student's pronunciation test in cycle 1 and cycle 2 had significantly different scores. There was a better improve of gains by students at the end of action of second cycle. The research findings indicated that the use of Choral Reading Technique could improve the students pronunciation and after evaluation in cycles I and II, the mean scores increased for the pronunciation of short vowels is 5.6% in the first cycle to 7.33% in the second cycle, and for the pronunciation of long vowels is 5.46% in the cycle I to 7.35% in the cycle II. It was categorized good enough. It can be stated that the students pronunciation at the first year in class X of SMA Bawakaraeng Makassar was in a low level before the test in the cycle I and the position of pronunciation moved into a high level after the test in the cycle II.
