George Washington was the United States
first president. He was elected in 1789.
George Washington was born in Virginia.
Who was the president of the United States
that was elected in 2004?

The United States used to be controlled by
England. The founding fathers created a
document called The Declaration of
Independence and sent it to England. Fifty
six men signed the declaration. When was
the United States founded?
• July 4th, 1776

There are now 27 different amendments. There
used to be only 10. One of the amendments that
was created after the first ten, is that the
president can only serve a certain amount of
terms. What do we call the first ten
amendments?

The President of the United States used to
be able to serve as many terms as he/she
likes. This has changed because the
Congress has made amendment 22.
Amendment 22 limits the amount of terms
