What is Directing

Directing is a process of telling a person what to do .It means1) Issuing orders & instructions by a superior to his/her subordinate (commanding) 2) Guiding & supervising subordinates to ensure that the work is carried out as planned (Supervision) 3) Assigning jobs to subordinates & guiding, advising & helping them to do the jobs effectively ( leadership) 4) Inspiring the subordinates to take efforts to achieve organizational goals, by providing good working environment & job satisfaction ( motivation ) 5) By transferring information, idea, understanding subordinates & rectifying errors in time, based on feedback information (communication)

It includes the process of motivating subordinates. It is a complex function that includes all those activities which are designed to encourage subordinates to work effectively & efficiently. Koontz
