E-Learning.
Agenda:
•Introduction
•Initiative
•Growth
•Effectiveness
•Opinion & justification
1
introduction
• E-learning is an advanced way of teaching
and learning where physical, economic &
political boundaries are missing, and
instead there are computers.
• This is flexible in usage as it can be
accessed from anywhere at any time, any
number of times.
2
Initiative
• E-learning was initiated in order to help
learn without actual traverse.
• This is a modern method of education, for
eg. TATA Sky’s active learning, Sikkim
university’s distance learning program.
• This is a fairly new concept in India but
has picked up pace.
• A lot of foreign universities follow
successful distance learning programs.
3
Growth
• As e-learning is a lonely activity and people don’t
know who to reach when faced with problems,
so web and collaborative learning platforms are
emerging to solve this problem.
• Major players in e-learning field are IGNOU,
Sikkim Manipal university, tata sky.
• It has remarkably grown in India eg. SMU,
IGNOU.
• Without travel, Indians take up courses from
foreign universities.
4
Effectiveness
• E-learning is a cheaper method of
education especially for people from low
income groups, people taking up hobby
courses like learning a new language,
cooking, how to operate equipment, etc.
• But on the other hand it may not be able to
provide sufficient knowledge and skills and
exposure to a person taking up a
professional or vocational course.
5
Opinion & justification
• Yes, e-learning has evolved over a period
of time, has helped a lot of people, who
otherwise would not have been able to
have an access to further education.
• But it certainly cannot substitute actual
classroom learning, because to learn to
swim one actually has to take a plunge.
