Guidelines for filling Online Preliminary Design Report

I) Preliminary Design Report consists of Max. 9 Pages. Teams are required to fill these 9 pages with max. word limit
of 500 per page.

. Page 1) Rule book – all important parameters to be captured in one page in brief

Page 2) Draft Technical specifications of the vehicle

Page 3) Target performance specs

Page 4) Roll cage design

Page 5) Roll Cage Design

Page 6) Roll Cage Design

Page 7) Design validation plan

Page 8) 3D view of the vehicle

Page 9) Comparative data to be given by 2010 top ten teams

1. Rule book conformance- max one page

Important points to be captured in brief in one page as understood by team.

2. Draft Tech Specs- max one page

This should broadly cover important dimensions of the vehicle, wheel base, track widths, approx weight
distribution, sub system specs such as - engine , transmission, brakes, steering, suspension , tyres etc

3. Target design and performance specs - max one page

Teams are expected to provide target specs such as speed, gradability, acceleration, braking performance,
turning circle, ground clearance, suspension parameters, wheel geometry etc based on which the teams would
take up the detailed design.

4. Roll cage design- max three pages including analysis/ results

This must cover all design considerations such as driver ergonomics, intended placement of the aggregates,
rule book conformance parameters to be highlighted, load values and locations of loads applied for various
analysis, stress/deformation, impact factors considered for various simulation tests and results, roll cage
material and section finalized, 3D view, weight of the roll cage, number of weld joints and total weld length of
the basic roll cage, estimated cost of manufacturing.

5. Design validation plan-max one page


It is expected that teams should provide DVP details/methods in respect of design specs, and performance
aspects,

7. Important point for the top ten teams of 2010 event

II) Teams can attach max. of 4 Images per Page. Upload Image and attach it to desired place.

III) Teams shall have to Save each page Separately by Clicking Save Page Button at the bottom of each page.
