Visualizing Your Favorite Song

Close your eyes and imagine what you see when listening to your favorite song. For a class project, create a poster that visually represents a song by your favorite artist using principles of design, composition, typography, photography, or illustration inspired by album covers. Bring 10 thumbnail sketches representing 1 or more songs and next week develop the best idea into a full poster on the computer.

Play your favorite song.

Close your eyes.

What do you see?
?
Project 3:
Create a poster that represents a song by one
of your favorite recording artists.
Album covers are great sources of inspiration.
See how designers and illustrators represent
entire albums.
All you have to do is represent a song visually.
I want to see you show off everything
you’ve learned so far.

Big ideas.

Design/Composition

Typography.

Photography.

Illustration.
Project Details:

1. Bring in 10 sharpie thumbnails full size, either

8.5x11 or 11x8.5, of designs/illustrations that represent
a favorite recording artist’s song. One song per
thumbnail.

2. You can bring in 10 thumbnails that each represent

the same song in a different way.
Or each thumbnail can represent a different
song. It’s up to you how you want to divide it up.

3. Next week we’ll choose your best idea and

you’ll comp it on the computer on 11x17 or 17x11.
