OWI Arrest: 5th Offense in Madison

The Dane County Sheriff's Office issued a news release announcing the arrest of James E. Wilkinson for OWI - 5th Offense during a specialized intoxicated driving enforcement operation on May 22nd. A deputy stopped Wilkinson's vehicle and noticed signs of intoxication, and Wilkinson admitted to drinking alcohol. He was arrested and taken to jail. His passenger was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. The overtime enforcement was funded by a Wisconsin DOT grant to reduce intoxicated driving.

OWI – 5th Offense


Madison, WI. May 24, 2010 – Deputies working a state grant for intoxicated drivers arrested James
E. Wilkinson for OWI – 5th Offense. The specialized enforcement took place the night of Saturday,
May 22nd.

The deputy made a traffic stop on Wilkinson at approximately 11:50 pm on Verona Road near
Atticus Way in the City of Madison. He immediately noticed the smell of intoxicants, and
Wilkinson admitted to consuming alcohol. After field sobriety tests were conducted Wilkinson was
booked into the Dane County Jail for the felony OWI, Operating After Revocation (OAR), and a
probation hold.

In addition, his passenger, Marvin P. Pullen, age 51 of Madison, was arrested on an outstanding
warrant for Operating After Revocation – 4th Offense.

The overtime enforcement was made possible through a grant from the Wisconsin Department of
Transportation. The next deployment will be the weekend of June 4th.
