Thriller opening sequences usually consist of suspense and mystery and
so we incorporated this in our opening sequences.
Title screens were used as
these our conventions of
thrillers.
We also used parallel cuts
to portray the contrast
between the main
characters in the sequence.
The opening sequence portrayed different social classes as
different due to where they live and how they look but also the
same due to their personalities. The characters Darren and
Jordan both looked as if they had a motive for leaving their
house but were dressed very differently to each other.

I believe media institutions such as Verve pictures
and Vertigo Films will most likely distribute my film
because it is of a low budget and these institutions
have successfully distributed low budget films such as
Bullet Boy and Red Road.

Our target audience will most probably be all genders aged 15-
30. We did research on our target audience and found out what
they liked in thriller films and we incorporated these things in our
opening sequence.
We also found out that our target audience liked mystery and
suspense because it kept on the edge of their seats.
We attracted our audience by incorporating
suspense and mystery in our films as our target
audience were interested in these conventions.
We showed our sequence to some people for
feedback; some said they liked the angles we used
and the way it was edited but others said at times
they didn’t know what was going on.
I learnt a lot about technologies whilst making my
sequence.
Mistakes could be made when filming; we had to
be careful because the slightest nudge on the
camera when recording could result in an
unwanted movement in the sequence.
Also when editing our sequence using
iMovie on the apple iMacs I realised that
som edits would result in the sequence not
making sense so we had to be carfeful
when doing so.
Continuity also became a
problem; we would film one day
and try to film on another day but
the weather was different so we
had to film it all again on that day.
Since the preliminary task I did I have learnt a lot more shots and ways to
edit. In the preliminary task I filmed a conversation between 2 people, I
used a shot reverse shot and a medium close up.
We used many new angles and editing techniques in our production that
we didn’t use in our preliminary task so we have learnt a lot since we did
the task.
Shots such as point of view shots and establishing shots parallel edits
were things we learnt.
