Open Gear Drives Inspection Report

1) The document reports on inspections of Kiln 6 at Siam City Plant 3 in Thailand, owned by Holcim, on February 26, 2008 and July 5, 2007. 2) Vibrations were normal but the lubrication spray system was interrupted by support bars blocking the nozzles and preventing lubricant from reaching the tooth flanks. 3) Temperature readings were normal but the lubricant consumption was high, possibly because the spray system was not properly lubricating the tooth flanks.

GENERAL REMARKS ABOUT MACHINE

Comments:
Tooth Flanks:Overall contact is OK, surface
conditions are stable but appear a little dry even with
the high consumption setting. The lubricant is not
making it to the tooth flanks correctly.
Vibrations:Vibration readings are all normal.
Spray System:Spray nozzle paths are interupted and
blocked by support bars preventing the lubricant being
applied to the contact flanks of the pinion teeth
correctly. These bars need to be removed before
consumption can be returned to normal. Some small
leaks on the spray system doors need to be repaired
also.
Temperature:Alignment indications are good.
