SSL Project Journal: Arauz's Role

Jose Arauz recorded various instruments for an SSL project including drums, bass, acoustic steel string guitar, acoustic nylon string guitar, and electric guitar over two days. On the first day, drums were recorded with a Sennheiser mic kit and SM57 for snare. Bass was directly recorded with a DI and amp simulator. The second day, acoustic guitars were recorded with an AKG 414 pointed at the sound hole and electric guitar through a Fender amp with an SM57 close-miked on the speaker. During mixing, drum and guitar parts were copied and pasted to create rhythms and the instruments were roughly balanced and effects were added.
