ABSTRACT
This paper sums up the review of pharmaceutical industries during my internship at
Inogent laboratories P. limited in terms of physical appearance, chemical process and
also the unit operations involved for API manufacturing in particular. Therefore, this
paper includes my understanding of the production of one such API right from the lab
scale to the plant scale. Further, it deals with the material balance calculations for the
two stage process at the lab scale which is scaled up to the plant scale in terms of raw
materials. The next part of the paper explains the various unit operations involved in
pharmaceutical industries. This paper shows the applications of the subjects like
material balance, mechanical unit operations, fluid dynamics, material sciences and
chemical technology in a pharmaceutical industry. The entire process, from labs to the
plant is continuously monitored for any faults in machinery, pollution caused and also
for various hazards. Finally, in the last section, various ways in which a
pharmaceutical industry can be improved based on my experience are explained.
