1. Prefer
Prefer + nouns + to +
Ex : My Girlfriend
dress.

prefers black dress to red

Prefer + to infinitive
Ex : I Prefer to stay with you forever.
Prefer + Verb -ing + to + Verb ing
Ex : She Prefers playing basket ball to playing football.

2. Would rather
Would rather + bare infinitives
Ex : I would rather study hard now.
Would rather + bare infinitives + than + bare infinitives
Ex : He would rather stay here than go wath movie

3. Would prefer to
Would prefer + to infinitives + rather than + bare infinitives
Ex : She would prefer to sing rather than dance.
Would prefer + to infinitives + nouns + rather than + bare infinitives + nouns
Ex : You would prefer to play basketball rather than take a sleep.

4. Like
Like + nouns / (Verb + ing)+ better than + nouns /(Verb + ing)
Ex : a. I like playing a Violin better than playing a guitar.
b. I like beer better than mineral water.

5. Had better
Had better + bare infinitives
Ex : You had better play hard.
Had better + not + bare infinitives
Ex : I had better not tell her the truth
