Preface
This Upgrade Quest is combing Upgrade Quest #4: Learn to Code
with Upgrade Quest #5: Do It Again.
I spent close to 5 hours learning how to code and how to make
games with Unity by enrolling in Udemys Learn to Code by Making 2D
Games Complete Unity Developer course. Its a great tutorial series
that has helped me become more confident and proficient with Unity.
The two instructors provide great explanations, guidance, materials,
challenges, quizzes, and a framework that makes it easy to learn how
to use Unity. They lightly explain the interface and software while
slowly building your confidence with the mechanics and features. Ive
only worked through 20% of the course, but Ive developed 2
technically 3games, and Im hoping to complete their course by
semesters end.
Unity is a powerful game development tool, and it allows
developers to release their games on browsers, Windows PCs, Macs,
Linux, iOS, Android, Blackberry, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PS Vita,
and the Windows store. In other words, Unity games can be played on
a number of systems and by a wide range of players, which make it
ideal for educational technologists. These are links to two of the games
I created within Unity: The Robot Army text adventure game and
Number Warlock guessing game. As I continue with the course, the
games will get more sophisticated, and Im getting to delve deeper into
Unity. I have a slew of my own games that Im excited about creating,
but I lack the skills and knowledge. This courseand possibly other
Udemy courseswill be a great help in getting me to where I want to
be.
Here are links to all of the Youtube videos of me coding. Sorry for
the background music, but it helps me zone in while I work.
