ITU Emission Designation Overview

The document describes ITU emission designations which classify radio transmissions. The designation uses three symbols: the first indicates modulation type (e.g. AM, FM, PM), the second indicates the nature of signals modulating the carrier (e.g. single sideband, independent sidebands), and the third indicates the type of information transmitted (e.g. facsimile, telephony, television). Standards for AM, FM, and television channel frequencies and bandwidths are also provided.
