Pre-Questioning's Impact on Reading Comprehension

This study investigated the effects of pre-questioning technique on the reading comprehension achievement of second grade students at SMAN 1 Arjawinangun in the 2012-2013 academic year. There were eight second grade classes totaling 120 students selected for the study. The experimental method was used, with one class receiving pre-questioning treatment and one class serving as the control. Reading comprehension was tested using multiple choice and essay questions. The results showed that the class receiving pre-questioning treatment performed better on the reading comprehension test compared to the control class. Statistical analysis confirmed that pre-questioning had a significant positive effect on students' reading comprehension achievement.

This study $ere conducted to investigate the effect of Pre01uestioning on
the /eading 2om"rehension Achievement to the Second %rade Students of
S-A3 1 Ar,a$inangun in Academic 4ear 201252013. The forms of 1uestions
$ere in multi"le choice and essay, multi"le choice used for reading
com"rehension tests and essay used for Pre01uestioning tests. There $ere eight
classes of second grade students at S-A3 1 Ar,a$inangun in academic year
201252013. T$o classes, consist of 60 students for each, class are ta7en as the
sam"le on this study.
The $riter used e8"erimental method in this study. The data $ere
"rocessed and analy9ed according to these ste"s( ta7ing the data, coding, scoring,
ta:ulating using SPSS version 13 and ta7ing the conclusion :ased on the statistic
result.
The result of this study sho$s that the Pre01uestioning has a significant
effect on the students; reading com"rehension achievement.
