Objective:

To carry out the analysis, plan, direction, building, operation and maintenance of different types
of civil works.


Contents

The course of studies is organized in two cycles: the Initial Cycle includes basic subjects of
scientific and engineering training; and the Superior Cycle is concerned with subjects
specifically connected to Civil Engineering and its orientations. There are three orientations that
can be chosen and that serve as a grounding for the Final Thesis:
- Constructions and Buildings: it deals with resistant structures and civil works in its
different aspects: buildings, bridges, towers radio electric transmission, high tension
lines, etc.
- Hydraulic; concerning the integral profitability of water for domestic and industrial uses,
hydraulic constructions in general, as source of energy, irrigation, etc; including the
design and building of regulation and derivation works.
- Transportation: it concerns issues connected to the analysis of highways, airports and
harbours, including the economic aspect of transportation.


Job Opportunities
Graduates are qualified to: carry out the analysis of problems and solutions, planning,
coordination, calculation, direction and other activities concerning dams, irrigation systems,
drainages, and water supplies. They also work in connection to means of transport harbours,
airports, railways, and roads.
Civil Engineers also work on urban, rural, industrial and environmental drainage; and
topographic and geodesic- astronomic tasks.
Graduates are qualified to carry out interdisciplinary jobs in the evaluation not only of aspects
concerning design and calculation but also of general features such as economic and social
aspects.
