Discovering Your Core Values

Values are important beliefs that guide individual behavior and are shared within social groups. The Vedas emphasize values like honesty, nonviolence, truthfulness, and purity that were also mentioned in the Bhagavadgita as divine qualities. Being value-driven means simply living according to one's values through being, becoming, and doing. Ultimately, the main benefit of understanding one's values is that it provides clarity and focus to make consistent, committed decisions and improve results in the most important areas of life.

Clarifying values-finding your

inner voice
Leadership lessons 1
What is personal value?

In simple general terms values are

important and lasting beliefs or ideals
which we imbibe from near and influential
fellow humans

Values are shared by the members of a

social groups ,it is about what is good or
desirable and what is not.

Values exert major influence on the

behaviour of an individual and serve as
guiding spirits in all situations.
BELIEF SYSTEM-ETHICS OF RIGHT ACTION

RigVeda as well as Atharva Veda mention honesty, non-violence, truthfulness,

modesty, agreeable speech, Brahmacharya (celibacy), religious conviction, and
purity of heart as the important values that are praiseworthy.

These very virtues are mentioned in the Bhagavadgita as divine qualities.

Thus the Vedic philosophy lays emphasis on right conduct as the means of the
development of the personality of the individual. Hence in a way the ethics of the
Vedas is the ethics of right action.
WHAT IT TAKES TO BE VALUE DRIVEN

Being. It's enough to just "be." the value we hold ,

It's not necessary to accomplish great things in life to feel life has been lived
with values .
Becoming. The main purpose for being placed on this earth is for one's own
inner development. we become the value we hold if we truly believe in it.
Doing. If we apply fully, the efforts get rewarded. What a person
accomplishes is a measure our own worth.
Finding that inner voice--WHY DO VALUES MATTER?

THE MAIN BENEFIT OF KNOWING OUR VALUES IS THAT WE

WILL GAIN TREMENDOUS CLARITY AND FOCUS, BUT
ULTIMATELY WE MUST USE THAT NEWFOUND CLARITY TO
MAKE CONSISTENT DECISIONS AND TAKE COMMITTED ACTION.
SO THE WHOLE POINT OF DISCOVERING OUR VALUES IS TO
IMPROVE THE RESULTS WE GET IN THOSE AREAS THAT ARE
TRULY MOST IMPORTANT TO US
VALUES ARE PRIORITIES THAT TELL HOW TO SPEND OUR TIME,
RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.
