Target Audience for Media Production

The primary audience for the media production would be 15-20 year olds, as the main characters are within this age range and wear contemporary fashion. The audience would also primarily be female given the dominant female character. Additionally, the audience may have interests in photography and art given the main character's passion for photography and the scenic locations used in filming. Older audiences may also be interested due to the orchestral soundtrack used. The audience would have similar interests to films like "Kill Bill Vol. 1" and "Heavenly Creatures" that inspired aspects of the production.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Audience
The audience for our media production could primarily have an age range of around 15-20 years. This is because the actors that play our two characters are also within this age range, with Billy being 16 and Danielle being 17 and also the way that both of these characters wear contemporary high street fashion items, may reflect the style of our younger audience. Similarly, the ethnic groups of the characters may reflect those of the audience as both of our characters are White British. The audience for our film may also become primarily females. This is because of the dominant female character that is played.

Interests & Aspirations


Much of our audience may be interested in activities and past times such photography due to the ways in which the main character of Billy, the victim in our piece is shown to be enjoying taking photographs of his surroundings before his tragic end. Also, due to the locations in which our production was shot, our thriller may appeal to an art house audience as the scenery is very much a large part of our production as it is involved in many establishing shots. Our production also appeals to those aspiring to continue within a future of possibly artist features due to Billys use of camera work and this characters passion for the natural environment that surrounds him throughout the piece.

Older audiences
Alternatively, our production could also appeal to an older audience through specific features of the soundtrack that we chose. For example the drama that is added by the orchestral theme may appeal to certain audiences that are somewhat interested in possibly ballet. Similarly, by choosing such a soundtrack we are challenging some conventions also. An example being when we use younger characters, we do not generically use a contemporary/modern soundtrack to reflect this but instead, we use an older piece to also represent the location that is natural and sophisticated in relation to the plot of the production.

Similar Interests
The audience for our film may also have similar interests to the case studies that
we carried out. For example, we carried out case studies on Kill Bill Vol.1 and Heavenly Creatures as both of these Thriller contained aspects such as lighting, location and mise-en-scene that we also wished to incorporate and add fragments of into our own production. When researching more, I found that audience members may also like films from a similar genre and Director even due to the aspects that were again, incorporated.
