Plan 13: Mechanical Seal Cooling System

Plan 13 is a standard flush plan for vertical pumps that recirculates fluid from the seal chamber through a minimum 1/8" flow control orifice back to the pump suction to remove seal generated heat and vent the pump. It is used when the seal chamber pressure is greater than the suction pressure and can help reduce seal chamber pressure when used with a close fitting throat bushing.
