While I was thinking of a topic, I asked myself, “What interests you?” Ancient Greece
and Rome instantly came to mind. I had always wondered what it would be like to be Greek or
Roman. In connection to the theme, I narrowed it down to the rights of Ancient Roman citizens.
Now, I have the chance to learn more about my interests.

I stared my research online looking for any information on Ancient Romans. I soon
found out about some of their rights. I then chose that for my topic. Next, I looked more and
more for the rights they had. After I had gotten all of the rights I could find, I went and looked
up all the rights of American citizens from the Constitution and any other documents that state
rights. I had notices, while looking up rights of Romans, that some rights were only for a specific
type of citizen and not another, so I then looked up the different classes of citizenship there
were for Romans. The last thing I did was look for dates. Dates of when the Romans wrote their
rights down, when any rights that were written, were written down, when us Americans got our
rights and etc... I also look at past winners' websites. I looked at what they did that I liked and I
integrated those things into my website.

At first I was planning on making an exhibit. I saw the rules for exhibits and websites and
then chose to do a website. I was able to work on my website anywhere allowing more time for
work. I started by choosing a fitting style to format with. I then looked at previous winners'
websites for ideas on how to make mine better. From their websites, I added photo and text
links, buttons to help organize and ideas on what a winning website should look like. I tried to
organize everything in a logical order. I had also heard music on multiple winning sites, so one
day I figured out how to record the music I wanted and how to put them into my site.

My project relates to the theme, "Rights and Responsibilities", because they are the
basis for the American rights and the rights of Roman citizens were some of the first to written
down. Romans were the best and strongest civilization at their time. To see that one of the best
countries now (America) has been influenced by the best civilization of ancient times (Rome) is
important. I am showing what rights Ancient Romans had, which is what the theme is, "Rights
and Responsibilities."
