How we chose our topic: In order to choose our topic, we decided to choose a topic that is not spoken of that well in topic. Its a subject that people have lost interest in and should be well thought of. We looked and looked for topics that were interested from the list that was available to us. We got several interesting topics, so we decided to narrow down our choices; this is when we chose the most interesting topic, which was when we chose our Indian Treaties topic. How we began researching: We began our research by looking at well-known databases, normally those available from the King County Library System website. Thats where we got all of our primary sources, since its a trusted site. For our secondary sources, we either used the web, or the library. We used two books from the King County Library System; one of them was Washington State Indian Treaty Rights by The League of Women Voters of Washington. Despite using books, we also had a chance to interview an actual Native American from the Duwamish Tribe. She gave a lot of valuable information; I never knew that the Duwamish Tribe used to own part of Seattle and the Puget Sound Lowlands. How we chose out presentation: For our presentation, we wanted to do something that involved a lot of technology use and that would make an interesting way of putting together sound, text and visuals. The closest format that we saw was creating a website. We thought it would be a great and fun way to show all our research. Having a lot of information, we put a lot of things in our website, from music to an interview! It was a lot of fun working on creating this website. Even though we had obstacles along the way, we overcame them. How our topic goes to the Rights and Responsibilities theme: There are many ways how my topic is related to the Rights and Responsibilities theme. The topic Indian Treaties has been an issue since our countrys early stages, and is still an issue today. The US government and Native Americans have been given rights and responsibilities, which is determined by Indian treaties. The Indian Treaties issued were mostly for land claims to the United States, taking away the right for Native Americans to live in their homelands and moving somewhere else. Word Count: 404
