Economics 201 Discussion Section Syllabus TA: Office: Phone: Course information:

Fall 2011 Office Hours: M 10:30-12:30 (Monroe 132) And by appointment

Section 110 Monday 5:00-5:50 pm, Monroe 124

Objectives: The purpose of each discussion section is to supplement Mr. XXX lectures, give you the opportunity to ask questions, and discuss topics (related to economics) that interest you. I will go over the material presented to you in the lectures, so I expect you to be familiar with it. If you didnt understand something from the lecture, this is the time to raise your questions, so please do. Attendance: Not required. It will be your decision to come to the sections or not, depending on your full understanding of the lectures. Nevertheless, do consider that this is the only time to ask questions and that part of your final grade is earned here. Cell Phone Policy: Please either turn them off, or have them on silent. You may answer only if you think it is an emergency, but please go quietly outside. Grading: 1) As was stated in [Link] syllabus, 25 of your final grade points are determined in this discussion section. I will be giving 5 pop-up quizzes, each worth 5 points. Of these, your lower score will be dropped. There will be no make-up quizzes. In addition, I will give 5 points for participation in class. Together, 4 quizzes and 5 participation points sum to 25 points total. 2) I am responsible for grading your 2 exams. I will do my best to grade all tests accurately and fairly. If I have made a simple arithmetic error in tallying your score, please notify me immediately and I will change your grade. Any other grading discrepancies must be made to me IN WRITING in the first week following each exam. Written arguments may be given to me personally or placed on my mailbox in Monroe basement. You may approach the head TA only if you have already talked to me first and dont like what Ive had to say. If you are still not satisfied, you can see Mr. XXX. Please be warned that they have the right to re-grade your entire test, and may EITHER add or subtract points. Important dates: First Exam September 27 5:30 pm Second Exam November 1 5:30 pm Make Up Exam November 29 6:30 pm Final Exam December 13 7:00 pm
