October at the Early Years Family Centres
Welcome New Team Members, Hours and Programs
September has been a wonderful month. We are so pleased that many new families have found us and that our new programs have started. October brings a change to our evening hours. Our Scott Site will continue to offer early evening on Tuesdays and our Gathering Place site will now be offering early evening hours on Thursday instead of Wednesday. We are excited to expand our team this month. Our Scott Site welcomes Linda McKnight to the team. Our Gathering Place Site welcomes Mandy Bull and and Luanne Reinhardt to the team. National Family Week Oct. 7 to Oct. 13
Thousands of Canadians have celebrated National Family Week every fall since 1985, when it was proclaimed an official week by the Government of Canada. The theme this year, Strong Families, Strong Communities, celebrates the role of families in creating a nurturing and supportive community in which to live. It evokes a sense of interdependency communities are built by families and families are supported by communities. By being involved and engaged, families not only create an environment that is responsive but one that provides opportunity. Families and communities rely on each other, just as do members of a family or neighbours within a community. National Family Week is an ideal opportunity to acknowledge the ways we can all contribute to building a community that supports everyone.
