Jim Rutherford has been the President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes since 1994. Over his career he has made 115 draft picks, selecting 66 forwards, 37 defensemen, and 12 goalies. Of the players drafted, 17 have gone on to play over 200 NHL games. Under Rutherford, the Hurricanes have achieved above average success in drafting players who become regular NHL players, especially at forward positions and early in the draft. The progress of Carolina draft picks from 2004-2008 shows most making the NHL or AHL by ages 21-22.
